I am against you, Jerusalem, you who live above this valley on the rocky plateau, declares the Lord— you who say,“ Who can come against us? Who can enter our refuge?”

耶和华说：住山谷和平原磐石上的居民，你们说：‘谁能下来攻击我们？谁能进入我们的住处呢？’看哪，我与你们为敌。

住在山谷和平原磐石上的居民啊，看哪，我与你们为敌，因为你们说：‘谁能下来攻击我们？谁能进入我们的住处呢？’这是耶和华说的。

耶和華說，耶路撒冷啊，你座落在山谷之上，如平原的磐石，自以為無人能攻擊你，無人能闖入你的住處。但我要攻擊你，

看哪！在山谷上、在巖石平原上的耶路撒冷啊！我要攻擊你。’這是耶和華的宣告。‘你們說：誰能下來攻擊我們，誰能進入我們的住處呢？

『永恆主發神諭說：住山谷和平原磐石上的人哪，你們說：「誰能下來攻擊我們？誰能進入我們的住處呢？」看哪，我跟你們為敵呢。

居於谷中、平原之磐者歟、爾曰、孰能降而擊我、孰能入我窟穴、耶和華曰、我為爾敵、

耶和華曰、爾居陵谷、處平原、據巖穴以為家、自謂無人干犯、無人入室、我耶和華攻爾、視爾所行而加刑罰、燃火於林、四面焚燬。

惟爾居山谷與平原之磐巖者、爾云、孰能下而攻我、孰能入我居所、主曰、我必臨而攻爾、

Jerusalem, I am against you,” announces the Lord.“ You live above this valley. You are on a high, rocky plain. And you say,‘ Who can come against us? Who can enter our place of safety?’

“ Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, O rock of the plain, declares the Lord; you who say,‘ Who shall come down against us, or who shall enter our habitations?’

I will personally fight against the people in Jerusalem, that mighty fortress— the people who boast,“ No one can touch us here. No one can break in here.”

Beware! I am against you, you who sit above the valley, you atop the rocky plateau— this is the LORD’s declaration— you who say,“ Who can come down against us? Who can enter our hiding places?”

“ Behold, I am against you, you inhabitant of the valley, You rocky plain,” declares the Lord,“ You who say,‘ Who will come down against us? Or who will enter our dwellings?’

“ Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, And rock of the plain,” says the Lord,“ Who say,‘ Who shall come down against us? Or who shall enter our dwellings?’

Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain, saith Jehovah; you that say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

Beware! I am against you, you who sit above the valley, you atop the rocky plateau— this is the Lord’s declaration— you who say,“ Who can come down against us? Who can enter our hiding places?”

Behold, I[ am] against thee, O inhabitant of the valley,[ and] rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

Listen, you who sit enthroned above the valley on a rocky plateau. I am opposed to you,’ says the LORD.‘ You boast,“ No one can swoop down on us. No one can penetrate into our places of refuge.”

Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain,’ says Yahweh.‘ You that say,“ Who would come down against us?” or“ Who would enter into our homes?”

The kings of the earth did not believe, nor did any of the peoples of the world, that enemies and foes could enter the gates of Jerusalem.

The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself,‘ Who can bring me down to the ground?’Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” declares the Lord.

“‘ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign Lord.

“ See, I am against you, you arrogant one,” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty,“ for your day has come, the time for you to be punished.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.

“ Therefore,” declares the Lord,“ I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me.Yes,” declares the Lord,“ I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare,‘ The Lord declares.’Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares the Lord.“ They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least,” declares the Lord.

Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they look for the Lord’s support and say,“ Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.”

Why do you boast of your valleys, boast of your valleys so fruitful? Unfaithful Daughter Ammon, you trust in your riches and say,‘ Who will attack me?’I will bring terror on you from all those around you,” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.“ Every one of you will be driven away, and no one will gather the fugitives.

The terror you inspire and the pride of your heart have deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks, who occupy the heights of the hill. Though you build your nest as high as the eagle’s, from there I will bring you down,” declares the Lord.

I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm in furious anger and in great wrath.

The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David,“ You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought,“ David cannot get in here.”Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion— which is the City of David.

A prophecy against the Valley of Vision: What troubles you now, that you have all gone up on the roofs,

Do not trust in deceptive words and say,“ This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!”

“ I am against you, you destroying mountain, you who destroy the whole earth,” declares the Lord.“ I will stretch out my hand against you, roll you off the cliffs, and make you a burned-out mountain.

On that day tell your son,‘ I do this because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

After leaving Sukkoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert.
