Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction. So the word of the Lord has brought me insult and reproach all day long.

如我傳耶和華之命、呼告斯民、必遭強據、必見俘囚、斯民也侮予欺予、靡有已時。

我一出言、則為哀慘之詞、所宣告、俱論敵人強暴刼奪之事、我傳主言、終日被人羞辱藐視、

Every time I speak, I cry out. All you ever tell me to talk about is fighting and trouble. Your message has brought me nothing but dishonor. It has made me suffer shame all day long.

For whenever I speak, I cry out, I shout,“ Violence and destruction!” For the word of the Lord has become for me a reproach and derision all day long.

When I speak, the words burst out.“ Violence and destruction!” I shout. So these messages from the Lord have made me a household joke.

For whenever I speak, I cry out, I proclaim,“ Violence and destruction!” so the word of the LORD has become my constant disgrace and derision.

For each time I speak, I cry aloud; I proclaim violence and destruction, Because for me the word of the Lord has resulted In taunting and derision all day long.

For when I spoke, I cried out; I shouted,“ Violence and plunder!” Because the word of the Lord was made to me A reproach and a derision daily.

For as often as I speak, I cry out; I cry, Violence and destruction! because the word of Jehovah is made a reproach unto me, and a derision, all the day.

For whenever I speak, I cry out, I proclaim,“ Violence and destruction!” because the word of the Lord has become for me constant disgrace and derision.

For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.

For whenever I prophesy, I must cry out,“ Violence and destruction are coming!” This message from the LORD has made me an object of continual insults and derision.

For as often as I speak, I cry out; I cry,“ Violence and destruction!” because Yahweh’s word has been made a reproach to me, and a derision, all day.

But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.

To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.

From early times the prophets who preceded you and me have prophesied war, disaster and plague against many countries and great kingdoms.

Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.

You deceived me, Lord, and I was deceived; you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me.

Their land will be an object of horror and of lasting scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and will shake their heads.Like a wind from the east, I will scatter them before their enemies; I will show them my back and not my face in the day of their disaster.”

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ Cut down the trees and build siege ramps against Jerusalem. This city must be punished; it is filled with oppression.As a well pours out its water, so she pours out her wickedness. Violence and destruction resound in her; her sickness and wounds are ever before me.

If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

People of Israel,” declares the Lord,“ I am bringing a distant nation against you— an ancient and enduring nation, a people whose language you do not know, whose speech you do not understand.Their quivers are like an open grave; all of them are mighty warriors.They will devour your harvests and food, devour your sons and daughters; they will devour your flocks and herds, devour your vines and fig trees. With the sword they will destroy the fortified cities in which you trust.

“‘ Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,

Lord, you have heard their insults, all their plots against me—what my enemies whisper and mutter against me all day long.Look at them! Sitting or standing, they mock me in their songs.

Then the Lord said to me:“ Even if Moses and Samuel were to stand before me, my heart would not go out to this people. Send them away from my presence! Let them go!And if they ask you,‘ Where shall we go?’ tell them,‘ This is what the Lord says:“‘ Those destined for death, to death; those for the sword, to the sword; those for starvation, to starvation; those for captivity, to captivity.’“ I will send four kinds of destroyers against them,” declares the Lord,“ the sword to kill and the dogs to drag away and the birds and the wild animals to devour and destroy.I will make them abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth because of what Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah did in Jerusalem.

Therefore a lion from the forest will attack them, a wolf from the desert will ravage them, a leopard will lie in wait near their towns to tear to pieces any who venture out, for their rebellion is great and their backslidings many.

“ Your wealth and your treasures I will give as plunder, without charge, because of all your sins throughout your country.I will enslave you to your enemies in a land you do not know, for my anger will kindle a fire that will burn against you.”

He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

then tell them,‘ This is what the Lord says: I am going to fill with drunkenness all who live in this land, including the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets and all those living in Jerusalem.I will smash them one against the other, parents and children alike, declares the Lord. I will allow no pity or mercy or compassion to keep me from destroying them.’”

But if you do not obey me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying any load as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle an unquenchable fire in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses.’”

Oh, my anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain. Oh, the agony of my heart! My heart pounds within me, I cannot keep silent. For I have heard the sound of the trumpet; I have heard the battle cry.Disaster follows disaster; the whole land lies in ruins. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good.”

“ Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city.

“‘ In this place I will ruin the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies, at the hands of those who want to kill them, and I will give their carcasses as food to the birds and the wild animals.I will devastate this city and make it an object of horror and scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff because of all its wounds.I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh because their enemies will press the siege so hard against them to destroy them.’“ Then break the jar while those who go with you are watching,and say to them,‘ This is what the Lord Almighty says: I will smash this nation and this city just as this potter’s jar is smashed and cannot be repaired. They will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.

One of the experts in the law answered him,“ Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.”
