And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashhur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, Jehovah hath not called thy name Pashhur, but Magor- missabib.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magormissabib.

But the next day Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks. When he did, Jeremiah said to him,“ The LORD’s name for you is not‘ Pashhur’ but‘ Terror is Everywhere.’

On the next day, Pashhur released Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him,“ Yahweh has not called your name Pashhur, but Magormissabib.

For I hear many whispering. Terror is on every side!“ Denounce him! Let us denounce him!” say all my close friends, watching for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be deceived; then we can overcome him and take our revenge on him.”

Go not out into the field, nor walk on the road, for the enemy has a sword; terror is on every side.

Why have I seen it? They are dismayed and have turned backward. Their warriors are beaten down and have fled in haste; they look not back— terror on every side! declares the Lord.

And I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the Lord said to me,“ Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz;

You summoned as if to a festival day my terrors on every side, and on the day of the anger of the Lord no one escaped or survived; those whom I held and raised my enemy destroyed.

For I hear the whispering of many— terror on every side!— as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life.

And the Lord said to him,“ Call her name No Mercy, for I will no more have mercy on the house of Israel, to forgive them at all.But I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and I will save them by the Lord their God. I will not save them by bow or by sword or by war or by horses or by horsemen.”When she had weaned No Mercy, she conceived and bore a son.And the Lord said,“ Call his name Not My People, for you are not my people, and I am not your God.”

Then he said,“ Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

And God said to Abraham,“ As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.

But when it was day, the magistrates sent the police, saying,“ Let those men go.”And the jailer reported these words to Paul, saying,“ The magistrates have sent to let you go. Therefore come out now and go in peace.”But Paul said to them,“ They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and do they now throw us out secretly? No! Let them come themselves and take us out.”The police reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Roman citizens.So they came and apologized to them. And they took them out and asked them to leave the city.
