Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?

Why did I ever come out of my mother’s body? I’ve seen nothing but trouble and sorrow. My days will end in shame.

Why did I come out from the womb to see toil and sorrow, and spend my days in shame?

Why was I ever born? My entire life has been filled with trouble, sorrow, and shame.

Why did I come out of the womb to see only struggle and sorrow, to end my life in shame?

Why did I come forth from the womb to see labor and sorrow, That my days should be consumed with shame?

Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

Why did I come out of the womb to see only struggle and sorrow, to end my life in shame?

Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

Why did I ever come forth from my mother’s womb? All I experience is trouble and grief, and I spend my days in shame.

“ Why is light given to one burdened with grief, And life to the bitter of soul,

“ Man, who is born of woman, Is short lived and full of turmoil.

I am the man who has seen misery Because of the rod of His wrath.

For all our days have dwindled away in Your fury; We have finished our years like a sigh.As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is only trouble and tragedy; For it quickly passes, and we disappear.

You know my disgrace, my shame, and my dishonor; All my enemies are known to You.

For I think, God has exhibited us, the apostles, last of all as men condemned to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to mankind.We are fools on account of Christ, but you are prudent in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are without honor!Up to this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, and are poorly clothed and roughly treated and homeless;and we labor, working with our own hands; when we are verbally abused, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;when we are slandered, we reply as friends; we have become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things, even until now.

“ Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me!

So then, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.

My sorrow is beyond healing, My heart is faint within me!

To the woman He said,“ I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you shall deliver children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.”Then to Adam He said,“ Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying,‘ You shall not eat from it’; Cursed is the ground because of you; With hard labor you shall eat from it All the days of your life.Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; Yet you shall eat the plants of the field;By the sweat of your face You shall eat bread, Until you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.”

“ Is it nothing to all you who pass this way? Look and see if there is any pain like my pain Which was inflicted on me, With which the Lord tormented me on the day of His fierce anger.

So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.

Truly, truly I say to you that you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy!

Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, A people in whose heart is My Law; Do not fear the taunting of people, Nor be terrified of their abuses.

and others experienced mocking and flogging, and further, chains and imprisonment.

For this reason I also suffer these things; but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to protect what I have entrusted to Him until that day.

looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory, and of God, rests upon you.Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

From the sole of the foot even to the head There is nothing healthy in it, Only bruises, slashes, and raw wounds; Not pressed out nor bandaged, Nor softened with oil.
