“‘现在，我们的神啊，你是至大、至能、至可畏、守约施慈爱的神；我们的君王、官长、祭司、先知、祖先和你的众百姓，从亚述诸王的时候直到今日所遭遇的一切苦难，求你不要看为小事。在一切临到我们的事上，你是公义的，因为你所行的是信实，我们所做的是邪恶。我们的君王、官长、祭司、祖先都不遵守你的律法，不听从你的诫命和你警戒他们的话。

从我们祖先的日子直到今日，我们的罪恶深重；因我们的罪孽，我们和君王、祭司都交在邻国诸王的手中，被杀害，掳掠，抢夺，脸上蒙羞，正如今日的景况。

贼因饥饿偷窃充饥，人不藐视他，但若被抓到，要赔偿七倍，他必赔上家中一切财物。

那等人必因所喜爱的圣树抱愧；你们必因所选择的园子蒙羞，

没有听从你仆人众先知奉你的名向我们君王、官长、祖先和这地所有百姓所说的话。主啊，你是公义的，但我们犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民，并你所赶到各国的以色列众人，不论远近，因为背叛了你，脸上蒙羞，正如今日一样。耶和华啊，我们和我们的君王、官长、祖先因得罪了你，脸上就都蒙羞。

“从我们幼年以来，那可耻之物吞吃了我们祖先劳碌得来的，就是他们的羊群、牛群和他们的儿女。我们在羞耻中躺卧吧！愿惭愧将我们遮盖！因为从我们幼年以来，我们和我们的祖先都得罪了耶和华—我们的神，没有听从耶和华—我们神的话。”

那么，你们现在所看为羞耻的事，当时有什么果子呢？那些事的结局就是死。

以色列不是你的笑柄吗？它难道是在贼中被逮到，使你每逢提到它就摇头的吗？

你为何东奔西跑改变你的道路呢？你必因埃及蒙羞，像从前因亚述蒙羞一样。
