Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you. Consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you when you forsake the Lord your God and have no awe of me,” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.

You will be punished because you have sinned. You will be corrected for turning away from me. I am the Lord your God. If you desert me, bad things will happen to you. If you do not respect me, you will suffer bitterly. I want you to understand that,” announces the Lord who rules over all.

Your evil will chastise you, and your apostasy will reprove you. Know and see that it is evil and bitter for you to forsake the Lord your God; the fear of me is not in you, declares the Lord God of hosts.

Your wickedness will bring its own punishment. Your turning from me will shame you. You will see what an evil, bitter thing it is to abandon the Lord your God and not to fear him. I, the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!

Your own evil will discipline you; your own apostasies will reprimand you. Recognize how evil and bitter it is for you to abandon the LORD your God and to have no fear of me. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD of Armies.

斯民也、顏之厚矣、惡跡已彰、不思隱蔽、有若所多馬自招禍患、誠可為長太息也、

以色列族驕侈、惡跡已彰、必與以法蓮偕亡、猶大族亦必與之俱喪、

彼所行艱苦、所為暴戾、喪其心術、自召禍患。

吉日變為愁慘之時、謳歌變為悲傷之語、各束以麻、各薙其髮、終日哀哭、若喪獨子。

惡人所為、我見之兮、謂其心目中、不畏上帝兮、

我耶和華爾之上帝、導爾於途、爾乃棄我、自罹斯害。

彼逆主屢矣、故必死於林中之獅、斃於夤夜之狼、豹守其邑、伏視眈眈、凡出邑者、必被斷傷。

我民心偏、專背我旨、先知呼民、歸我至上之主、崇我者迄無一人、

故必自取其戾、所謀不軌、反及其身。

耶和華告以色列族曰、爾母見出、必有離書、離書云何、爾身見鬻、必有所償、所償伊誰、爾母見出、爾身見鬻、乃罪應爾。

耶和華云、我立命不易、以沙界海、洪濤澎湃、不得越其防、爾豈不寅畏、戰慄於我前。

以色列族因蹈愆尤、遂致殞沒、當歸誠爾之上帝耶和華、

猶底誦三四篇、遂以削簡之刀割之、投之於爐、全卷悉焚。王臣雖聽所誦之言、不知警、不裂衣、

心目中不畏上帝、

我曰、背逆之子、歸誠於我、我宥爾罪。民曰、爾耶和華乃我之上帝、今我詣爾之前。

以色列族若崛強之牛、退縮不前、我耶和華必放之曠野、若無牧之羔、

維彼惡人、自取其戾、陷於罪愆、

惟彼不從、強項難馴、掩耳不聽、

所作隱慝、深入於骨、及其歸土、惡報從之。惡譬諸食物、甫入口則甚甘、藏於舌間、久含不棄、下至腹、味殊苦、如蝮之膽。其平日並吞財貨、上帝必使復吐之。或飲蛇毒而亡、或為蝮螫而死。

然則耶路撒冷人恆背逆予、固執詭詐、不知悛改、曷故。

耶和華又告耶利米曰、以色列族背予、猶大人欺予、若相比較、則以色列之過尤細。爾往北方、揚聲播告曰、耶和華曰、爾以色列族背予、今當歸誠、蓋余矜憫為懷、不常蓄怒、必眷顧爾。我耶和華爾之上帝、爾違逆予、不遵我命、入諸茂林、崇事他上帝、今當任過。耶和華又曰、爾曹違逆之流、為我所棄、今當歸誠、我必納爾、於城邑中則簡一人、於支派中則簡二人、導至郇山。

當約西亞王年間、耶和華告耶利米曰、以色列族有若淫婦、爾豈不見乎、彼背我、陟高巒、入茂林、狥欲而行。我見其所為、欲其歸誠、惟彼不從、其與猶大族、親若姊妹、猶大族效尤、屢欺侮予。以色列族既背我、狥欲而行、我棄之、與以離書、其姊妹猶大族、屢欺侮予、毫無畏葸、狥欲而行、我鑒察之、彼狥欲特甚、崇拜木石、污衊斯邦、厥後佯為歸誠、心不誠慤。○
