自埃及西曷至迦南地、以革倫界之北、治非利士人之伯有五、即迦薩、亞實突、以實迦倫、迦特、以革倫是。又有一族、稱亞英者。

以法蓮族無知、蠢然若鴿、或呼埃及人、或就亞述人望其扶持、

人往埃及、求其助己、見車馬眾多、驍騎勇猛、則以之是恃、不恃以色列族之聖主耶和華而求其眷祐、其禍必不遠矣、

爾何肆志遨遊、重蹈故轍、昔爾維亞述是恃、而蒙愧恥、今爾惟埃及是賴、而抱羞慙。

迦勒底人圍耶路撒冷、聞法老軍旅、自埃及而至、遂撤圍。耶和華諭耶利米曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、猶大王既遣爾、諮諏於我、爾當告之曰、法老之軍旅、雖來輔翼、終歸埃及、迦勒底人必復至、攻陷斯邑、取而焚之。耶和華又曰、勿自欺云、迦勒底人將去、蓋彼無去志。浸假攻爾之迦勒底人、為爾所擊、其軍中惟遺被傷之卒、偃於幕下、亦能起、燬斯邑。

以法蓮、猶大知被毀傷、則以法蓮遣人至亞述、求救於敵國之王、而不能療其疾、

亞述王滴臘比利斯既至、加以困苦、不為援手。亞哈士以耶和華殿、王宮、宦室之物、悉賂亞述王、猶不之助。

郇民曰、我冀鄰邦、以手援予、引領徒勞、望眼欲穿兮。

乃王子背巴比倫王約、遣使至埃及、欲其率軍馬以至、彼行是事、豈能亨通、豈能免難、爽約之人、豈能獲救。

亞哈士遣人至亞述王滴臘比利斯曰、我乃爾之子臣、亞蘭王及以色列王攻我、請爾至此、援我於其手。亞哈士以耶和華殿、及王宮府庫、所有之金銀、饋於亞述王。亞述王允所請、往攻大馬色、而陷其城、殺哩汛、虜其民人至吉。

耶和華曰、悖逆者流、惟設計謀、不仰望予、灌奠以要約、感予神者、弗順從之、其罪益深、禍將及矣、彼不諮諏我意、乃往埃及、藉法老之勢力、望埃及之庇蔭、爾惟法老之勢力是恃、埃及之庇蔭是賴、則必含羞蒙恥、牧伯至鎖安國、使詣哈匿、見二邑之民無益、弗能助理、則愧恧靡已、牲畜輜重、適彼南方、頻更患難、有牝獅猛獅、又有毒蛇、且能飛騰、所有貨財、載於驢肩、負於駝背、以饋於不能益己之民、埃及之助徒勞、故名之云、大言不慙、無濟於事、
