爾之惡行、使爾受刑、爾之違逆、使爾受譴、爾可知可見爾棄主爾之天主、不敬畏我、必至遭難受苦、此乃主萬有之天主所言、

Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you. Consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you when you forsake the Lord your God and have no awe of me,” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.

You will be punished because you have sinned. You will be corrected for turning away from me. I am the Lord your God. If you desert me, bad things will happen to you. If you do not respect me, you will suffer bitterly. I want you to understand that,” announces the Lord who rules over all.

The look on their faces testifies against them, and like Sodom, they flaunt their sin; they do not conceal it. Woe to them, for they have brought disaster on themselves.

Israel’s arrogance testifies against them. Both Israel and Ephraim stumble because of their iniquity; even Judah will stumble with them.

Your way and your actions have brought this on you. This is your punishment. It is very bitter, because it has reached your heart!

I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; I will cause everyone to wear sackcloth and every head to be shaved. I will make that grief like mourning for an only son and its outcome like a bitter day.

An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked person: Dread of God has no effect on him.

Have you not brought this on yourself by abandoning the LORD your God while he was leading you along the way?

Therefore, a lion from the forest will strike them down. A wolf from arid plains will ravage them. A leopard stalks their cities. Anyone who leaves them will be torn to pieces because their rebellious acts are many, their unfaithful deeds numerous.

My people are bent on turning from me. Though they call to him on high, he will not exalt them at all.

His frame may be full of youthful vigor, but it will lie down with him in dust.Though evil tastes sweet in his mouth and he conceals it under his tongue,though he cherishes it and will not let it go but keeps it in his mouth,yet the food in his stomach turns into cobras’ venom inside him.He swallows wealth but must vomit it up; God will force it from his stomach.He will suck the poison of cobras; a viper’s fangs will kill him.

Why have these people turned away? Why is Jerusalem always turning away? They take hold of deceit; they refuse to return.

The LORD announced to me,“ Unfaithful Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.Go, proclaim these words to the north, and say,‘ Return, unfaithful Israel. This is the LORD’s declaration. I will not look on you with anger, for I am unfailing in my love. This is the LORD’s declaration. I will not be angry forever.Only acknowledge your guilt— you have rebelled against the LORD your God. You have scattered your favors to strangers under every green tree and have not obeyed me. This is the LORD’s declaration.“‘ Return, you faithless children— this is the LORD’s declaration— for I am your master, and I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

In the days of King Josiah the LORD asked me,“ Have you seen what unfaithful Israel has done? She has ascended every high hill and gone under every green tree to prostitute herself there.I thought,‘ After she has done all these things, she will return to me.’ But she didn’t return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.I observed that it was because unfaithful Israel had committed adultery that I had sent her away and had given her a certificate of divorce. Nevertheless, her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid but also went and prostituted herself.

Now I will tell you what I am about to do to my vineyard: I will remove its hedge, and it will be consumed; I will tear down its wall, and it will be trampled.
