我們望眼欲穿，盼望援軍的到來，盼來的國家卻無力拯救我們。

後來，猶大王背叛了巴比倫王，派使者到埃及請求支援軍隊馬匹。他能成功嗎？他這樣做怎能逃脫懲罰呢？他這樣背約怎能逃脫懲罰呢？

亞哈斯差遣使者去見亞述王提革拉·毗列色，對他說：「我是你的僕人、你的兒子，現在亞蘭王和以色列王攻打我，求你從他們手中拯救我。」亞哈斯把耶和華殿裡和王宮庫房裡的金銀送給亞述王。亞述王答應了他，起兵攻陷大馬士革，殺了利汛，把城中的居民擄到吉珥。

耶和華說：「我悖逆的兒女有禍了！他們不遵行我的旨意，按自己的計劃行事；未經我同意，擅自與人結盟，不斷犯罪。他們不求問我便去埃及，想得到法老的保護和蔭庇。然而，法老的保護和蔭庇必成為他們的恥辱。雖然他們的官長和使臣已到瑣安和哈內斯，但他們必蒙羞，因為埃及人對他們毫無用處，沒有任何幫助和益處，帶給他們的只有羞愧和恥辱。」以下是關於南地動物的預言：他們的使臣用驢馱著財物，用駱駝馱著珍寶，穿過公獅、母獅、蝮蛇和飛蛇出沒的艱險之地，前往一個對他們毫無用處的國家。埃及的幫助是徒然的，所以我稱她為「沒用的海怪」。
