The Lord said to Jeremiah,“ Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take along some of the elders of the people. Also tell some of the priests to go with you.

Thus says the Lord,“ Go, buy a potter’s earthenware flask, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the elders of the priests,

This is what the Lord said to me:“ Go and buy a clay jar. Then ask some of the leaders of the people and of the priests to follow you.

This is what the Lord says:“ Go and buy a potter’s earthenware jar, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the senior priests.

Thus says the Lord:“ Go and get a potter’s earthen flask, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the elders of the priests.

Thus said Jehovah, Go, and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, and take of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;

The LORD told Jeremiah,“ Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take with you some of the leaders of the people and some of the leaders of the priests.

Thus said Yahweh,“ Go, and buy a potter’s earthen container, and take some of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;

Seventy elders from the house of Israel were standing before them, with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing among them. Each had a firepan in his hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising up.He said to me,“ Son of man, do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his idol? For they are saying,‘ The LORD does not see us. The LORD has abandoned the land.’”

Its collapse will be like the shattering of a potter’s jar, crushed to pieces, so that not even a fragment of pottery will be found among its shattered remains— no fragment large enough to take fire from a hearth or scoop water from a cistern.”

“ Go down at once to the potter’s house; there I will reveal my words to you.”So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, working away at the wheel.But the jar that he was making from the clay became flawed in the potter’s hand, so he made it into another jar, as it seemed right for him to do.

Zion’s precious children— once worth their weight in pure gold— how they are regarded as clay jars, the work of a potter’s hands!

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us.

He sent Eliakim, who was in charge of the palace, Shebna the court secretary, and the leading priests, who were covered with sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.

One ancestral family was taken for Eleazar, and then one for Ithamar.

When daybreak came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put him to death.

In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him and said,“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.

“ Then you are to shatter the jar in the presence of the people going with you,and you are to proclaim to them,‘ This is what the LORD of Armies says: I will shatter these people and this city, like one shatters a potter’s jar that can never again be mended. They will bury the dead in Topheth because there is no other place for burials.

‘ This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: Take these scrolls— this purchase agreement with the sealed copy and this open copy— and put them in an earthen storage jar so they will last a long time.

The next day, their rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalemwith Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and all the members of the high-priestly family.
