At one moment I might announce concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will uproot, tear down, and destroy it.

我論一族、或論一國之時、言欲拔之、毀之、翦滅之、

始我命邦國、必當翦滅、撥其根本、而彼邦國、悛改厥行、則我欲降之災、必不行焉。

如我言、某邦某國、當敗當毀當滅、

If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed,

Suppose I announce that something will happen to a nation or kingdom. Suppose I announce that it will be pulled up by the roots. And I announce that it will be torn down and destroyed.

If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it,

If I announce that a certain nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed,

At one moment I might announce concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will uproot, tear down, and destroy it.

At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot it, to tear it down, or to destroy it;

The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it,

At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it;

[ At what] instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy[ it];

There are times, Jeremiah, when I threaten to uproot, tear down, and destroy a nation or kingdom.

At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it;

See, I have appointed you today over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and demolish, to build and plant.

This is what the Lord says:“ Concerning all My evil neighbors who attack the inheritance that I bequeathed to My people, Israel, I am about to uproot them from their land, and I will uproot the house of Judah from them.After I have uprooted them, I will once again have compassion on them and return each one to his inheritance and to his land.If they will diligently learn the ways of My people— to swear by My name,‘ As Yahweh lives,’ just as they taught My people to swear by Baal— they will be built up among My people.However, if they will not obey, then I will uproot and destroy that nation.” This is the Lord’s declaration.

I am going to send for all the families of the north’— this is the Lord’s declaration—‘ and send for My servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will bring them against this land, against its residents, and against all these surrounding nations, and I will completely destroy them and make them a desolation, a derision, and ruins forever.I will eliminate the sound of joy and gladness from them— the voice of the groom and the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.This whole land will become a desolate ruin, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon for 70 years.When the 70 years are completed, I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation’— this is the Lord’s declaration—‘ the land of the Chaldeans, for their guilt, and I will make it a ruin forever.I will bring on that land all My words I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book that Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations.For many nations and great kings will enslave them, and I will repay them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.’”

“ This is what you are to say to him:‘ This is what the Lord says: What I have built I am about to demolish, and what I have planted I am about to uproot— the whole land!

Look, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth. However, I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob— this is the Lord’s declaration—

Jonah set out on the first day of his walk in the city and proclaimed,“ In 40 days Nineveh will be demolished!”
