「你們是耶和華－你們上帝的兒女。不可為了死人割劃自己，也不可使額上光禿；

迦薩成了光禿，亞實基倫歸於無有。平原中所剩的啊，你割劃自己，要到幾時呢？

有八十人從示劍、示羅和撒瑪利亞前來，鬍鬚剃去，衣服撕裂，身體劃破，手拿素祭和乳香，要奉到耶和華的殿。

不可為死人割劃自己的身體，也不可在身上刺花紋。我是耶和華。

當那日，萬軍之主耶和華使人哭泣哀號，頭上光禿，身披麻布。

地上的君王、臣宰、將軍、富戶、壯士，和一切為奴的、自主的，都藏在山洞和巖石穴裏，

那時，百姓如何，祭司也如何；僕人如何，主人也如何；婢女如何，主母也如何；買主如何，賣主也如何；放債的如何，借貸的也如何；債主如何，欠債的也如何。

所以，耶和華論到約西亞的兒子猶大王約雅敬如此說：人必不為他舉哀：「哀哉，我的哥哥！哀哉，我的姊姊！」也不為他舉哀：「哀哉，我的主！哀哉，我主的榮華！」他被埋葬好像埋驢子一樣，被拖出去，扔在耶路撒冷城門外。

各人頭上光禿，鬍鬚剪短，手有劃傷，腰束麻布。

我耳中聽見耶和華對其餘的人說：「要跟隨他走遍全城去擊殺。你們的眼不要顧惜，也不要可憐他們。要將年老的、年輕的、少女、孩童和婦女，從我的聖所開始全都殺盡，只是不可挨近凡有記號的人。」於是他們從殿前的長老殺起。

耶路撒冷啊，要剪頭髮，扔掉它，在光禿的高地唱哀歌，因為耶和華棄絕、離棄了惹他發怒的世代。』」

耶和華在一日之間從以色列中剪除了頭與尾－棕樹枝與蘆葦－長老和顯要就是頭，以謊言教人的先知就是尾。因為引導這百姓的使他們走入迷途，被引導的都必被吞滅。所以，主不喜愛他們的青年，也不憐憫他們的孤兒和寡婦；因為他們都是褻瀆的，行惡的，並且各人的口都說愚妄的話。雖然如此，耶和華的怒氣並未轉消；他的手依然伸出。

他們必死於致命的疾病，無人哀哭，不得埋葬，在地上如糞土，因刀劍和饑荒而滅絕；他們的屍首必給空中的飛鳥和地上的走獸作食物。

你就對他們說：『耶和華如此說：看哪，我必使這地所有的居民，就是坐大衛寶座的君王、祭司和先知，並耶路撒冷所有的居民，都酩酊大醉。

看哪，耶和華發命令，把大房子拆成碎片，小屋子裂為小塊。

我又看見死了的人，無論大小，都站在寶座前。案卷都展開了，並另有一卷展開，就是生命冊。死了的人都憑着這些案卷所記載的，照他們所行的受審判。
