I will winnow them with a winnowing fork at the city gates of the land. I will bring bereavement and destruction on my people, for they have not changed their ways.

Even though they give birth, I will put their beloved children to death.My God will reject them because they have not listened to him; they shall be wanderers among the nations.

The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

“ You shall say to them, Thus says the Lord: When men fall, do they not rise again? If one turns away, does he not return?Why then has this people turned away in perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit; they refuse to return.

Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.

“ As for you, son of man, surely on the day when I take from them their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes and their soul’s desire, and also their sons and daughters,

At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem,“ A hot wind from the bare heights in the desert toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow or cleanse,a wind too full for this comes for me. Now it is I who speak in judgment upon them.”
