“ Judah mourns, her cities languish; they wail for the land, and a cry goes up from Jerusalem.

“ Judah is filled with sadness. Its cities are wasting away. The people weep for the land. Crying is heard in Jerusalem.

“ Judah mourns, and her gates languish; her people lament on the ground, and the cry of Jerusalem goes up.

“ Judah wilts; commerce at the city gates grinds to a halt. All the people sit on the ground in mourning, and a great cry rises from Jerusalem.

“ Judah mourns, And her gates languish; They mourn for the land, And the cry of Jerusalem has gone up.

“ The people of Judah are in mourning. The people in her cities are pining away. They lie on the ground expressing their sorrow. Cries of distress come up to me from Jerusalem.

“ Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up.

And her gates will lament and mourn, And she will sit deserted on the ground.

I am broken over the brokenness of the daughter of my people. I mourn, dismay has taken hold of me.

And the people who did not die were struck with tumors, and the outcry of the city went up to heaven.

Therefore this is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am bringing disaster on them which they will not be able to escape; though they will cry out to Me, I will not listen to them.

And just as He called and they would not listen, so they called and I would not listen,” says the Lord of armies;

Their appearance is darker than soot, They are not recognized in the streets; Their skin is shriveled on their bones, It is dry, it has become like wood.Better off are those killed by the sword Than those killed by hunger; For they waste away, stricken By the lack of the produce of the field.

Her gates have sunk into the ground, He has destroyed and broken her bars. Her king and her leaders are among the nations; The Law is gone. Her prophets, too, find No vision from the Lord.

May a cry be heard from their houses When You suddenly bring raiders upon them; For they have dug a pit to capture me And hidden snares for my feet.

“ About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him as ruler over My people Israel; and he will save My people from the hand of the Philistines. For I have considered My people, because their outcry has come to Me.”

The land mourns and wastes away, Lebanon is shamed and withers; Sharon is like a desert plain, And Bashan and Carmel lose their foliage.

The field is ruined, The land mourns; For the grain is ruined, The new wine has dried up, Fresh oil has failed.

For the vineyard of the Lord of armies is the house of Israel, And the people of Judah are His delightful plant. So He waited for justice, but behold, there was bloodshed; For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.

The earth dries up and crumbles away, the mainland dries out and crumbles away, the exalted of the people of the earth dwindle.

How long is the land to mourn, And the vegetation of the countryside to dry up? Due to the wickedness of those who live in it, Animals and birds have been snatched away, Because people have said,“ He will not see our final end.”

My heart cries out for Moab; His fugitives are as far as Zoar and Eglath shelishiyah, For they go up the ascent of Luhith weeping; Indeed, on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of distress over their collapse.

So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him, And that He would hear the cry of the afflicted—

Our skin has become as hot as an oven, Because of the ravages of hunger.

So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The new wine mourns, The vine decays, All the joyful hearted sigh.

For this the earth will mourn, And the heavens above will become dark, Because I have spoken, I have purposed, And I have not changed My mind, nor will I turn from it.”

Therefore the land mourns, And everyone who lives in it languishes Along with the animals of the field and the birds of the sky, And even the fish of the sea disappear.

Before them the people are in anguish; All faces turn pale.
