Give glory to the Lord your God before he brings the darkness, before your feet stumble on the darkening hills. You hope for light, but he will turn it to utter darkness and change it to deep gloom.

Give glory to the Lord your God. Honor him before he sends darkness to cover the land. Do this before you trip and fall on the darkened hills. You hope that light will come. But he will turn it into thick darkness. He will change it to deep shadows.

主耶和華曰、是日也、我將使日沈於亭午、使地晦於白晝、使爾節期變為愁日、謳詠變為哀歌、人各束麻、眾咸髠首、哀哭若喪獨子、其終則如苦日焉、

萬民諸族歟、當以尊榮能力歸於耶和華、咸歸於耶和華兮、以耶和華名應得之榮歸之、奉禮入其院宇兮、

故其行徑、將為暗中之滑地、彼必見逐、蹶於其中、蓋譴責之年、我必降之以災、耶和華言之矣、

耶和華諭摩西曰、舉手向天、使埃及地晦冥、其暗可捫、

時當少壯、困苦之日未臨、所謂不悅之年未至、宜念造爾之主、即在日月星辰之光、未及晦冥、雨後之雲、未及復起、

我觀大地則虛曠混沌、我觀諸天則無光、

我望平康、未得裨益、我期醫治、而受恐惶、

且為躓石、為礙磐、以其背道而蹶焉、此亦預定者也、

我望救助、致目昏瞶、乃徒勞兮、我所瞻望之國、不能施拯兮、

人享遐齡、皆宜喜樂、惟當念及幽暗之日必多、將來之事、悉屬虛空、○

耶穌曰、光在爾中、暫耳、有光則宜行、免暗及爾、行於暗者、不知所往矣、
