惟此惡民、不聽我言、徇厥心之剛愎而行、從他神而服事崇拜之、必若此帶、歸於無用、

惡民不聽我言、輒自縱恣、崇奉他上帝、服事崇拜之、必使之無益、有如此帶。

These wicked people, who refuse to listen to my words, who follow the stubbornness of their hearts and go after other gods to serve and worship them, will be like this belt— completely useless!

These people are evil. They refuse to listen to what I say. They do what their stubborn hearts want them to do. They chase after other gods. They serve them and worship them. So they will be like this belt. They will be completely useless.

This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who stubbornly follow their own heart and have gone after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be like this loincloth, which is good for nothing.

These wicked people refuse to listen to me. They stubbornly follow their own desires and worship other gods. Therefore, they will become like this loincloth— good for nothing!

These evil people, who refuse to listen to me, who follow the stubbornness of their own hearts, and who have followed other gods to serve and bow in worship— they will be like this underwear, of no use at all.

This wicked people, who refuse to listen to My words, who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts and have followed other gods to serve them and to bow down to them, let them be just like this undergarment which is completely useless.

This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, who follow the dictates of their hearts, and walk after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be just like this sash which is profitable for nothing.

This evil people, that refuse to hear my words, that walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and are gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is profitable for nothing.

These evil people, who refuse to listen to Me, who follow the stubbornness of their own hearts, and who have followed other gods to serve and worship— they will be like this underwear, of no use at all.

This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

These wicked people refuse to obey what I have said. They follow the stubborn inclinations of their own hearts and pay allegiance to other gods by worshiping and serving them. So they will become just like these linen shorts which are good for nothing.

This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, will even be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing.

爾行惡較祖尤甚、各縱惡慾、剛愎自用、不願聽我、

主其列祖之天主因憐其民、惜其居所、日日日日原文作每晨遣使者訓誨之、彼訕笑天主之使者、藐視其言、侮辱侮辱或作譏諷其先知、故主震怒其民、不復援之、

主諭摩西曰、斯民棄我、何時乃已、我在其中、行諸異跡、彼仍不我信、何時乃已、

放縱私欲、傚法其祖、崇拜巴力、

我往伯拉河、於所藏之所、掘而取帶、見帶已壞、不適於用、

自我導爾祖出伊及、迄於今日、我屢屢原文作每晨警教之曰、當聽我言、彼不順從、不傾耳以聽、各縱惡欲、剛愎自用、不遵守我所命之約、我已降罰、循約所言、

當斯之時、耶路撒冷必稱為主之寶座、列國之民、必因主之名、集於耶路撒冷、不復徇惡心之剛愎、

然則此耶路撒冷之民、違棄我、永不復歸、何故、固執虛假、不願悔改、何故、

少者乎、爾幼時可欣喜、爾在幼年心可歡悅、行爾心所欲行之道、視爾目所欲視者、惟當知天主、必為此一切審鞫爾、

自猶大王亞們子約西亞十三年、迄於今日、歷二十三年、主恆有言諭我、我亦恆告爾、夙興告爾、惟爾不聽、主屢遣其僕諸先知以警爾、惟爾不聽、不傾耳以聽、彼先知曰、爾當各離惡道、各去惡行、則可居於主所賜爾及爾列祖之地、永世靡暨、勿從他神、勿奉事、勿崇拜、勿事爾手所作之偶像、干我震怒、則我不降爾以災、惟爾不聽我、事爾手所作之偶像、干我震怒、自取災害、此乃主所言、

莫傚其列祖違背叛逆、居心不中正、向天主意不誠實、

惟斯民有違背叛逆之心、背我而去、

皆必遭疫癘而死、無人哀哭、無人葬埋、必若糞土在地、亦有亡於鋒刃、死於饑饉、空中飛鳥、地上走獸、食其屍骸、

如爾同族希伯來人、被鬻於爾為奴、但事爾六年、屆第七年、爾當釋之離爾、任其自由、惟爾列祖不聽我、不傾耳以聽、今爾曹己悛改、行善於我前、宣告釋放同族、亦為此事、在為我名而建之殿、在為我名而建之殿或作在籲我名之殿於我前立約、爾又後悔、褻瀆我名、以所釋任意自由之奴婢、復使之歸、強之仍為奴婢、主如是云、爾曹不聽我、不願宣告釋爾同族同國之人、今我宣告爾、必使使或作任爾遭鋒刃、饑饉、疫癘、使爾受天下萬國之凌虐、

慎勿棄語爾者、當時在地傳命者、彼眾棄之、不得免刑、況由天而言者、我儕背之、焉能免刑、

先知曰、彼所欲為、主已示我、主既示我、則我悉知、

故我念主而勸爾、勿復逞虛妄之心而行、如他異邦人、其心蒙昩、愚頑無知、而棄天主生命之道、既失良心、則自棄、逞其邪侈、貪欲無度、行諸污穢、

以穢臭代馨香、以繩索代華帶、以頭禿代編髮、以麻衣代華服、以烙痕代美容、

惟彼不從、不傾耳以聽、竟隨己謀、放縱惡念、剛愎自用、以背向我、不以面向我、自爾列祖出伊及之時、迄於今日、我屢屢原文作每日清晨遣我僕眾先知、以警教爾、竟不領命、不傾耳以聽、乃強厥項、行惡甚於其列祖、爾耶利米以此言告之、彼仍不聽爾、爾招之來、彼仍不應爾、爾則指之曰、斯民不聽其天主之言、不受訓誨、不言真實、不言真實原文作真實無有絕於其口○
