They will sow wheat but reap thorns; they will wear themselves out but gain nothing. They will bear the shame of their harvest because of the Lord’s fierce anger.”

People will plant wheat. But all they will gather is thorns. They will wear themselves out. But they will not have anything to show for it. I am very angry with them. So they will be ashamed of the crop they gather.”

我要懲罰你們，使你們陷入恐慌、患癆病和熱症，使你們眼睛昏花、心力衰竭。你們撒種卻一無所獲，因為敵人要吃盡你們所種的。

你們為什麼花錢買不能充饑的食物？為什麼拿辛苦賺來的錢買不能令人飽足的東西？要留心聽我的話，就可以吃美物，享受豐盛的佳餚。

列邦的財富都化為灰燼，列國勞碌卻是一場空。這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

我四下觀看，只見良田變荒野，城邑都在耶和華的烈怒下淪為廢墟。

因為耶和華的烈怒，寧靜的草場變得一片荒涼。耶和華離開了祂的居所，就像獅子離開了洞穴。他們的土地因刀劍的蹂躪和耶和華的烈怒而一片荒涼。

做了現在想起來也覺得羞恥的事，得到了什麼益處呢？那些事只能導致死亡！

耶和華說：「我悖逆的兒女有禍了！他們不遵行我的旨意，按自己的計劃行事；未經我同意，擅自與人結盟，不斷犯罪。他們不求問我便去埃及，想得到法老的保護和蔭庇。然而，法老的保護和蔭庇必成為他們的恥辱。雖然他們的官長和使臣已到瑣安和哈內斯，但他們必蒙羞，因為埃及人對他們毫無用處，沒有任何幫助和益處，帶給他們的只有羞愧和恥辱。」以下是關於南地動物的預言：他們的使臣用驢馱著財物，用駱駝馱著珍寶，穿過公獅、母獅、蝮蛇和飛蛇出沒的艱險之地，前往一個對他們毫無用處的國家。

那時，有人盼望得到二十斗穀物，卻只有十斗。有人盼望得到五十桶酒，榨酒池中卻只有二十桶。我曾用蟲災、黴災和冰雹毀滅你們的作物，你們仍沒有歸向我。這是耶和華說的。

在高山丘陵上狂歡、拜偶像真是枉然，唯有我們的上帝耶和華才能拯救以色列。「從我們年幼時，那些可恥的神像就吞噬了我們祖先辛苦得來的牛羊和兒女。我們躺在自己的羞恥中，讓我們的恥辱遮蓋我們吧！因為我們和我們的祖先都得罪了我們的上帝耶和華，我們自幼至今一直沒有順服我們的上帝耶和華。」

那些到埃及尋求幫助的人有禍了！他們仰賴戰馬，倚靠眾多的戰車和強壯的騎兵，卻不仰望以色列的聖者，不尋求耶和華。然而，耶和華有智慧，會降災，從不收回自己的話。祂必懲罰惡人之家及其幫兇。埃及人不過是人，並非上帝；埃及的戰馬是血肉之軀，並非神靈。耶和華一伸手，那些幫兇必踉蹌，受幫助的必跌倒，他們必一同滅亡。
