荊棘回答說：『你們若誠誠實實地膏我為王，就要投在我的蔭下；不然，願火從荊棘裏出來，燒滅黎巴嫩的香柏樹。』

這樣，神報應亞比米勒向他父親所行的惡，就是殺了弟兄七十個人的惡。示劍人的一切惡，神也都報應在他們頭上；耶路‧巴力的兒子約坦的咒詛歸到他們身上了。

詭詐的舌頭啊，要給你甚麼呢？要拿甚麼加給你呢？就是勇士的利箭和羅騰木的炭火。

三百人就吹角，耶和華使全營的人用刀互相擊殺，逃到西利拉的伯‧哈示他，直逃到靠近他巴的亞伯‧米何拉。

你發怒的時候，要使他們如在炎熱的火爐中。耶和華要在他的震怒中吞滅他們；那火要把他們燒盡了。你必從世上滅絕他們的子孫，從人間滅絕他們的後裔。

神使惡魔降在亞比米勒和示劍人中間，示劍人就以詭詐待亞比米勒。

願火炭落在他們身上！願他們被丟在火中，拋在深坑裏，不能再起來。

眾人方唱歌讚美的時候，耶和華就派伏兵擊殺那來攻擊猶大人的亞捫人、摩押人，和西珥山人，他們就被打敗了。因為亞捫人和摩押人起來，擊殺住西珥山的人，將他們滅盡；滅盡住西珥山的人之後，他們又彼此自相擊殺。

勇士啊，你為何以作惡自誇？神的慈愛是常存的。你的舌頭邪惡詭詐，好像剃頭刀，快利傷人。你愛惡勝似愛善，又愛說謊，不愛說公義。（細拉）詭詐的舌頭啊，你愛說一切毀滅的話！神也要毀滅你，直到永遠；他要把你拿去，從你的帳棚中抽出，從活人之地將你拔出。（細拉）

願你按着他們所做的，並他們所行的惡事待他們。願你照着他們手所做的待他們，將他們所應得的報應加給他們。
