Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also; for thou hast saved us out of the hand of Midian.

The Israelites said to Gideon,“ Rule over us— you, your son and your grandson— because you have saved us from the hand of Midian.”

The Israelites said to Gideon,“ Rule over us. We want you, your son and your grandson to be our rulers. You have saved us from the power of Midian.”

Then the men of Israel said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, you and your son and your grandson also, for you have saved us from the hand of Midian.”

Then the Israelites said to Gideon,“ Be our ruler! You and your son and your grandson will be our rulers, for you have rescued us from Midian.”

Then the Israelites said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, you as well as your sons and your grandsons, for you delivered us from the power of Midian.”

Then the men of Israel said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, both you and your son, your son’s son as well, for you have saved us from the hand of Midian!”

Then the men of Israel said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, both you and your son, and your grandson also; for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.”

Then the Israelites said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, you as well as your sons and your grandsons, for you delivered us from the power of Midian.”

The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive- tree, Reign thou over us.But the olive- tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honor God and man, and go to wave to and fro over the trees?And the trees said to the fig- tree, Come thou, and reign over us.But the fig- tree said unto them, Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave to and fro over the trees?And the trees said unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us.And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my new wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to wave to and fro over the trees?Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us.And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

and they said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay, but a king shall reign over us; when Jehovah your God was your king.

Jesus therefore perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain himself alone.
