Now announce to the army,‘ Anyone who trembles with fear may turn back and leave Mount Gilead.’” So twenty- two thousand men left, while ten thousand remained.

So here is what I want you to announce to the army. Tell them,‘ Those who tremble with fear can turn back. They can leave Mount Gilead.’ ” So 22,000 men left. But 10,000 remained.

Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying,‘ Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home and hurry away from Mount Gilead.’” Then 22,000 of the people returned, and 10,000 remained.

Therefore, tell the people,‘ Whoever is timid or afraid may leave this mountain and go home.’” So 22,000 of them went home, leaving only 10,000 who were willing to fight.

Now therefore come, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying,‘ Whoever is afraid and worried, is to return and leave Mount Gilead.’ ” So twenty two thousand from the people returned, but ten thousand remained.

Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying,‘ Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.’” And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.

Now announce in the presence of the people:‘ Whoever is fearful and trembling may turn back and leave Mount Gilead.’” So 22,000 of the people turned back, but 10,000 remained.

Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever[ is] fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

Now, announce to the men,‘ Whoever is shaking with fear may turn around and leave Mount Gilead.’” Twenty-two thousand men went home; ten thousand remained.

Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying,‘ Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and depart from Mount Gilead.’” So twenty- two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.

The officers will continue to address the army and say,‘ Is there any man who is afraid or cowardly? Let him leave and return home, so that his brothers won’t lose heart as he did.’

These will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. Those with him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

Now great crowds were traveling with him. So he turned and said to them,“ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters— yes, and even his own life— he cannot be my disciple.Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.“ For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and cannot finish it, all the onlookers will begin to ridicule him,saying,‘ This man started to build and wasn’t able to finish.’“ Or what king, going to war against another king, will not first sit down and decide if he is able with ten thousand to oppose the one who comes against him with twenty thousand?If not, while the other is still far off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace.In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.

But the cowards, faithless, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars— their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

“ So the last will be first, and the first last.”

But he has no root and is short-lived. When distress or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he falls away.
