每逢以色列人撒種以後，米甸人、亞瑪力人和東方人都上來，欺壓他們；

耶和華啊！我的仇敵竟然這麼多。起來攻擊我的竟然那麼多。

誰能使我們與基督的愛隔絕呢？是患難嗎？是困苦嗎？是迫害嗎？是飢餓嗎？是赤身露體嗎？是危險嗎？是刀劍嗎？正如經上所記：“為你的緣故，我們終日面對死亡，人看我們像待宰的羊。”但靠著愛我們的那一位，我們在這一切事上就得勝有餘了。因為我深信：無論是死、是生，是天使、是掌權的，是現在的事，是將來的事，是有能力的，是高天的、是深淵的，或是任何別的被造之物，都不能叫我們與神的愛隔絕，這愛是在我們的主耶穌基督裡的。

那時，西巴和撒慕拿正在加各，與他們在一起的軍隊約有一萬五千人，就是東方人全營剩下的，因為有十二萬持刀的已經倒下了。基甸就從挪巴和約比哈東面，順著住帳棚的人的路上去；在敵軍以為安全而不戒備的時候，擊敗了敵軍。

列國之民啊！你們儘管作惡，但你們終必毀滅！所有在遠處的人民啊，要留心聽！你們儘管束腰吧，你們終必毀滅！你們儘管束腰吧，你們終必毀滅！你們儘管計劃陰謀吧，這些終必失敗；你們儘管提議吧，這些終必不能成立，因為神與我們同在。

耶斯列人拿伯在耶斯列有一個葡萄園，靠近撒瑪利亞王亞哈的王宮。

霎時之間，天空因風雲而變為黑暗，隨著降下大雨來。於是亞哈坐上了車，往耶斯列去了。

基甸派遣了使者走遍以法蓮山地，說：“你們要下來迎戰米甸人，在他們前面把守約旦河的渡口，直到伯．巴拉。”於是以法蓮的人都被召來，把守約旦河的渡口，直到伯．巴拉。

他們與夏甲人、伊突人、拿非施人和挪答人作戰。

水就停住了，那從上游流下來的水立起成壘，在很遠的地方，就是在撒拉但旁邊的亞當城那裡停住；那往下流入亞拉巴海，就是鹽海的水完全被截斷；於是人民就在耶利哥的對面過了河。

那些作惡的，就是我的敵人、我的仇敵，他們逼近我，要吃我肉的時候，就絆跌仆倒。雖有軍兵紮營攻擊我，我的心也不害怕；雖然發動戰爭攻擊我，我仍舊安穩。

他的家產有七千隻羊、三千匹駱駝、五百對牛、五百頭母驢，並且有許多僕婢。這人在全東方的人中至為尊貴。

列國圍困著我，我靠著耶和華的名必除滅他們。他們圍繞著我，把我圍困，我靠著耶和華的名必除滅他們。他們如同蜜蜂圍繞著我，但他們要像燒荊棘的火熄滅；我靠著耶和華的名必除滅他們。

他們的境界包括耶斯列、基蘇律、書念、
