曰、我若蒙恩於爾前、求示我以徵、俾知與我言者為爾也、

曰如我蒙恩於爾前、請示以徵、則知爾誠諭我者也。

曰、如我蒙恩於主前、求主示我以證、使我知與我言者誠主也、或作使我知主真與我言

Gideon replied,“ If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me.

Gideon replied,“ If you are pleased with me, give me a special sign. Then I’ll know that it’s really you talking to me.

And he said to him,“ If now I have found favor in your eyes, then show me a sign that it is you who speak with me.

Gideon replied,“ If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the Lord speaking to me.

So Gideon said to Him,“ If now I have found favor in Your sight, then perform for me a sign that it is You speaking with me.

Then he said to Him,“ If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me.

And he said unto him, If now I have found favor in thy sight, then show me a sign that it is thou that talkest with me.

Then he said to Him,“ If I have found favor in Your sight, give me a sign that You are speaking with me.

And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.

Gideon said to him,“ If you really are pleased with me, then give me a sign as proof that it is really you speaking with me.

He said to him,“ If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.

Show me a sign of your goodness; my enemies will see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped and comforted me.

Now if I have indeed found favor with you, please teach me your ways, and I will know you, so that I may find favor with you. Now consider that this nation is your people.”

“ Ask for a sign from the LORD your God— it can be as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven.”

How will it be known that I and your people have found favor with you unless you go with us? I and your people will be distinguished by this from all the other people on the face of the earth.”

Then Gideon said to God,“ If you will deliver Israel by me, as you said,I will put a wool fleece here on the threshing floor. If dew is only on the fleece, and all the ground is dry, I will know that you will deliver Israel by me, as you said.”And that is what happened. When he got up early in the morning, he squeezed the fleece and wrung dew out of it, filling a bowl with water.Gideon then said to God,“ Don’t be angry with me; let me speak one more time. Please allow me to make one more test with the fleece. Let it remain dry, and the dew be all over the ground.”That night God did as Gideon requested: only the fleece was dry, and dew was all over the ground.

But he said,“ Lord GOD, how can I know that I will possess it?”He said to him,“ Bring me a three-year-old cow, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”So he brought all these to him, cut them in half, and laid the pieces opposite each other, but he did not cut the birds in half.Birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.As the sun was setting, a deep sleep came over Abram, and suddenly great terror and darkness descended on him.Then the LORD said to Abram,“ Know this for certain: Your offspring will be resident aliens for four hundred years in a land that does not belong to them and will be enslaved and oppressed.However, I will judge the nation they serve, and afterward they will go out with many possessions.But you will go to your ancestors in peace and be buried at a good old age.In the fourth generation they will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure.”When the sun had set and it was dark, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch appeared and passed between the divided animals.

Hezekiah had asked Isaiah,“ What is the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the LORD’s temple on the third day?”Isaiah said,“ This is the sign to you from the LORD that he will do what he has promised: Should the shadow go ahead ten steps or go back ten steps?”Then Hezekiah answered,“ It’s easy for the shadow to lengthen ten steps. No, let the shadow go back ten steps.”So the prophet Isaiah called out to the LORD, and he brought the shadow back the ten steps it had descended on the stairway of Ahaz.

Moses answered,“ What if they won’t believe me and will not obey me but say,‘ The LORD did not appear to you’?”The LORD asked him,“ What is that in your hand?”“ A staff,” he replied.“ Throw it on the ground,” he said. So Moses threw it on the ground, it became a snake, and he ran from it.The LORD told Moses,“ Stretch out your hand and grab it by the tail.” So he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand.“ This will take place,” he continued,“ so that they will believe that the LORD, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”In addition the LORD said to him,“ Put your hand inside your cloak.” So he put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, his hand was diseased, resembling snow.“ Put your hand back inside your cloak,” he said. So he put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, it had again become like the rest of his skin.“ If they will not believe you and will not respond to the evidence of the first sign, they may believe the evidence of the second sign.And if they don’t believe even these two signs or listen to what you say, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”

This is the sign to you from the LORD that he will do what he has promised:I am going to make the sun’s shadow that goes down on the stairway of Ahaz go back by ten steps.’” So the sun’s shadow went back the ten steps it had descended.
