“ Pardon me, sir,” Gideon replied,“ you say the Lord is with us. Then why has all this happened to us? Where are all the wonderful things he has done? Our people of long ago told us about them. They said,‘ Didn’t the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has deserted us. He has handed us over to Midian.”

基甸对他说：“主啊，请容许我说，耶和华若与我们同在，我们怎么会遭遇这一切事呢？我们的列祖告诉我们：‘耶和华领我们从埃及上来’，他那奇妙的作为在哪里呢？现在耶和华却丢弃了我们，把我们交在米甸人的手掌中。”

基甸说：“我主啊，如果耶和华与我们同在，我们怎会有这些遭遇？我们的祖先曾告诉我们有关耶和华带领他们离开埃及的事，如今祂那些奇妙的作为在哪里呢？现在祂已经丢弃我们，把我们交在米甸人手里。”

基甸回答他，说：“唉，我的主，如果耶和华与我们同在，我们怎会遭遇这一切事呢？我们的列祖向我们讲述的，耶和华的一切奇事在哪里呢？他们曾说：‘耶和华不是把我们从埃及领上来吗？’现在他却抛弃了我们，把我们交在米甸人手中！”

基甸說：「主啊，耶和華若與我們同在，我們何致遭遇這一切事呢？我們的列祖不是向我們說『耶和華領我們從埃及上來』嗎？他那樣奇妙的作為在哪裏呢？現在他卻丟棄我們，將我們交在米甸人手裏。」

基甸對他說：「主啊，請容許我說，耶和華若與我們同在，我們怎麼會遭遇這一切事呢？我們的列祖告訴我們：『耶和華領我們從埃及上來』，他那奇妙的作為在哪裏呢？現在耶和華卻丟棄了我們，把我們交在米甸人的手掌中。」

基甸對他說：『唉，我主啊，永恆主如果與我們同在，我們何至於遭遇這一切事呢？我們的祖宗向我們敘說的、永恆主一切奇妙的作為在哪裏呢？他們說：「永恆主豈不是領我們從埃及上來麼？」現在他卻丟棄了我們，將我們交在米甸人手掌中！』

基甸曰、我主歟、如耶和華偕我、何至遭此、我祖嘗言耶和華導我出埃及、今其異蹟安在、茲乃棄我、付於米甸人手、

其田曰、我主與、如耶和華祐我、奚至所遇若此、我嘗聞我父之言、昔耶和華導我族出埃及、今其異跡安在、斯時耶和華遺棄我儕、付我於米田人手。

基甸曰、我主歟、如耶和華祐我、何至所遇若此、我列祖嘗向我傳述曰、主導我出伊及、今主之異跡安在、斯時主竟棄我、付我於米甸人手、

“ Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied,“ but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said,‘ Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

And Gideon said to him,“ Please, my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted to us, saying,‘ Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

“ Sir,” Gideon replied,“ if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn’t they say,‘ The Lord brought us up out of Egypt’? But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.”

Gideon said to him,“ Please, my lord, if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened? And where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about? They said,‘ Hasn’t the LORD brought us out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

Then Gideon said to him,“ O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying,‘ Did the Lord not bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

Gideon said to Him,“ O my Lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying,‘ Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

And Gideon said unto him, Oh, my lord, if Jehovah is with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not Jehovah bring us up from Egypt? but now Jehovah hath cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.

Gideon said to Him,“ Please Sir, if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened? And where are all His wonders that our fathers told us about? They said,‘ Hasn’t the Lord brought us out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where[ be] all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

Gideon said to him,“ Pardon me, but if the LORD is with us, why has such disaster overtaken us? Where are all his miraculous deeds our ancestors told us about? They said,‘ Did the LORD not bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

Gideon said to him,“ Oh, my lord, if Yahweh is with us, why then has all this happened to us? Where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying,‘ Didn’t Yahweh bring us up from Egypt?’ But now Yahweh has cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.”

“ Those who are poor and needy search for water. But there isn’t any. Their tongues are dry because they are thirsty. But I will help them. I am the Lord. I will not desert them. I am Israel’s God.

God, we have heard what you did. Those who came before us have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago.

Azariah went out to meet Asa. He said to him,“ Asa and all you people of Judah and Benjamin, listen to me. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you really look for him, you will find him. But if you desert him, he will desert you.

The Lord replied,“ I will go with you. And I will give you rest.”Then Moses said to him,“ If you don’t go with us, don’t send us up from here.How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and your people? You must go with us. How else will we be different from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

Lord, where is the great love you used to have? You faithfully promised it to David.

Don’t let your hearts turn away from the Lord. Instead, obey him. Don’t let yourselves be drawn away to other gods. And don’t bow down to them and worship them.If you do, I announce to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You are about to go across the Jordan River and take over the land. But you won’t live there very long.

We have heard about them and we know them. Our people who lived before us have told us about them.We won’t hide them from our children. We will tell them to those who live after us. We will tell them what the Lord has done that is worthy of praise. We will talk about his power and the wonderful things he has done.

“ Will the Lord turn away from us forever? Won’t he ever show us his kindness again?Has his faithful love disappeared forever? Has his promise failed for all time?Has God forgotten to help us? Has he held back his tender love because he was angry?”

The babies struggled with each other inside her. She said,“ Why is this happening to me?” So she went to ask the Lord what she should do.

People of Israel, the Lord’ s arm is not too weak to save you. His ears aren’t too deaf to hear your cry for help.But your sins have separated you from your God. They have caused him to turn his face away from you. So he won’t listen to you.

Don’t turn your face away from me. Don’t turn me away because you are angry. You have helped me. God my Savior, don’t say no to me. Don’t desert me.

And the Egyptians will tell the people who live in Canaan about it. Lord, they have already heard a lot about you. They’ve heard that you are with these people. They’ve heard that you have been seen face to face. They’ve been told that your cloud stays over them. They’ve heard that you go in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day. They’ve been told that you go in front of them in a pillar of fire at night.Suppose you put all these people to death and leave none alive. Then the nations who have heard these things about you will talk. They’ll say,

In that day I will become angry with them. I will desert them. I will turn my face away from them. And they will be destroyed. Many horrible troubles and hard times will come on them. On that day they will say,‘ Trouble has come on us. Our God isn’t with us!’

All the nations will ask,“ Why has the Lord done this to the land? What could have made him so very angry?”

Lord, look down from heaven. Look down from your holy and glorious throne. Where is your great love for us? Where is your power? Why don’t you show us your tender love and concern?

“ Jeremiah, these people might ask you a question. Or a prophet or priest might do this. They might ask,‘ What message have you received from the Lord?’ Then tell them,‘ You ask,“ What message?” Here it is.“ I will desert you,” announces the Lord.’

What should we say then? Since God is on our side, who can be against us?
