所以我下來，要救他們脫離埃及人的手，領他們脫離那地，到美好寬闊之地，到流奶與蜜之地，就是到迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人和耶布斯人的地方。

他們沒有照著耶和華吩咐他們的，滅絕外族的人民，反而和外族人混居雜處，學習他們的風俗習慣。他們又事奉外族人的偶像，這就成了他們的網羅。他們把自己的兒女祭祀鬼魔。他們流了無辜人的血，就是他們自己兒女的血，把他們祭祀迦南的偶像；那地就被血污穢了。

迦南生了長子西頓，又生赫，以及耶布斯人、亞摩利人、革迦撒人、希未人、亞基人、西尼人、亞瓦底人、洗瑪利人、哈馬人，後來迦南人的宗族分散了。

以法蓮也沒有把住在基色的迦南人趕走，於是迦南人還住在基色，在以法蓮中間。西布倫沒有把基倫的居民和拿哈拉的居民趕走；於是迦南人還住在西布倫中間，成了作苦工的人。亞設沒有把亞柯的居民和西頓的居民趕走，也沒有把亞黑拉、亞革悉、黑巴、亞弗革和利合的居民趕走。於是亞設人住在當地的居民迦南人中間，因為他們沒有把他們趕走。

“耶和華你的神領你進入你要去得為業的地，從你面前趕走許多民族，就是赫人、革迦撒人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，共七個比你又大又強的民族。

就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫人、比利洗人、利乏音人、亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人之地。”

你見他在你面前心裡誠實可靠，就與他立約，要把迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、耶布斯人和革迦撒人之地，賜給他的後裔；你履行了你的諾言，因為你是公義的。

我也曾說：“我要把你們從埃及的痛苦中領出來，到迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人之地去，就是到流奶與蜜之地去。”’
