and as for you, you shall not make a covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed Me; what is this thing that you have done?

勿與斯土之民立約、必毀其壇、而爾不聽我言、果何為哉、

爾與斯土之民、不可立約、必摧其壇、汝不遵命、果何為哉。

惟爾不可與斯地之居民立約、當毀其祭壇、爾竟不遵我言、爾何為哉、

and you shall not make a covenant with the people of this land, but you shall break down their altars.’ Yet you have disobeyed me. Why have you done this?

So you must not make a covenant with the people of this land. Instead, you must tear down their altars.’ But you have disobeyed me. Why did you do it?

and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done?

For your part, you were not to make any covenants with the people living in this land; instead, you were to destroy their altars. But you disobeyed my command. Why did you do this?

You are not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You are to tear down their altars. But you have not obeyed me. What have you done?

And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this?

and ye shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall break down their altars. But ye have not hearkened unto my voice: why have ye done this?

You are not to make a covenant with the people who are living in this land, and you are to tear down their altars. But you have not obeyed Me. What is this you have done?

And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

but you must not make an agreement with the people who live in this land. You should tear down the altars where they worship.’ But you have disobeyed me. Why would you do such a thing?

You shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You shall break down their altars.’ But you have not listened to my voice. Why have you done this?

and when the Lord your God turns them over to you and you defeat them, you shall utterly destroy them. You shall not make a covenant with them nor be gracious to them.Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them: you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons.For they will turn your sons away from following Me, and they will serve other gods; then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you and He will quickly destroy you.

Why do you go around so much Changing your way? Also, you will be put to shame by Egypt, Just as you were put to shame by Assyria.

This is what the Lord says:“ What injustice did your fathers find in Me, That they went far from Me, And walked after emptiness and became empty?

For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

“ And now, our God, what shall we say after this? For we have abandoned Your commandments,which You have commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying,‘ The land which you are entering to possess is an unclean land with the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from end to end, and with their impurity.So now do not give your daughters to their sons nor take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or their prosperity, so that you may be strong and may eat the good things of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.’And after everything that has come upon us for our evil deeds and our great guilt, since You our God have spared us by inflicting less than our wrongdoing deserves, and have given us such an escaped remnant as this,

They did not destroy the peoples, As the Lord had commanded them,But they got involved with the nations And learned their practices,And served their idols, Which became a snare to them.They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was defiled with the blood.So they became unclean in their practices, And were unfaithful in their deeds.Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against His people, And He loathed His inheritance.

Only in the cities of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, you shall not leave anything that breathes alive.Instead, you shall utterly destroy them, the Hittite and the Amorite, the Canaanite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, just as the Lord your God has commanded you,so that they will not teach you to do all the same detestable practices of theirs which they have done for their gods, by which you would sin against the Lord your God.

And He said,“ Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?”The man said,“ The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me some of the fruit of the tree, and I ate.”

You shall consume all the peoples whom the Lord your God will turn over to you; your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you.

But now what are you doing on the road to Egypt, Except to drink the waters of the Nile? Or what are you doing on the road to Assyria, Except to drink the waters of the Euphrates River?

Be careful that you do not make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a snare in your midst.But rather, you are to tear down their altars and smash their memorial stones, and cut down their Asherim— for you shall not worship any other god, because the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God—otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they would prostitute themselves with their gods and sacrifice to their gods, and someone might invite you to eat of his sacrifice,and you might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters might prostitute themselves with their gods and cause your sons also to prostitute themselves with their gods.

Then He said,“ What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying out to Me from the ground.

you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from you, and destroy all their idolatrous sculptures, destroy all their cast metal images, and eliminate all their high places;and you shall take possession of the land and live in it, for I have given the land to you to possess it.

So the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and He said,“ Because this nation has violated My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to My voice,

You generation, look to the word of the Lord. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, Or a land of thick darkness? Why do My people say,‘ We are free to roam; We will no longer come to You’?Can a virgin forget her jewelry, Or a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me For days without number.How well you prepare your way To seek love! Therefore even to the wicked women You have taught your ways.

He also drove out the nations from them And apportioned them as an inheritance by measurement, And had the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God And did not keep His testimonies,But turned back and acted treacherously like their fathers; They turned aside like a treacherous bow.For they provoked Him with their high places And moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.

The carved images of their gods you are to burn with fire; you shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, or you will be trapped by it; for it is an abomination to the Lord your God.And you shall not bring an abomination into your house and become designated for destruction, like it; you are to utterly detest it, and you are to utterly loathe it, for it is something designated for destruction.

Do not be mismatched with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness share together, or what does light have in common with darkness?Or what harmony does Christ have with Belial, or what does a believer share with an unbeliever?Or what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,“ I will dwell among them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.“ And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you.

You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations whom you are going to dispossess serve their gods, on the high mountains, on the hills, and under every leafy tree.And you shall tear down their altars and smash their memorial stones to pieces, and burn their Asherim in the fire, and cut to pieces the carved images of their gods; and you shall eliminate their name from that place.

Then Moses said to Aaron,“ What did this people do to you, that you have brought such a great sin upon them?”

Now when these things had been completed, the officials approached me, saying,“ The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, as to their abominations, those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has intermingled with the peoples of the lands; indeed, the hands of the officials and the leaders have taken the lead in this unfaithfulness.”When I heard about this matter, I tore my garment and my robe, and pulled out some of the hair from my head and my beard, and sat down appalled.

But this is what I commanded them, saying,‘ Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you shall walk entirely in the way which I command you, so that it may go well for you.’Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked by their own advice and in the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and they went backward and not forward.Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent you all My servants the prophets, sending them daily, again and again.Yet they did not listen to Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck; they did more evil than their fathers.“ So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you; and you shall call to them, but they will not answer you.And you shall say to them,‘ This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God or accept discipline; trustworthiness has perished and has been eliminated from their mouth.

You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods.They shall not live in your land, otherwise they will make you sin against Me; for if you serve their gods, it is certain to be a snare to you.”

in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
