And they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices unto the he- goats, after which they play the harlot. This shall be a statute forever unto them throughout their generations.

Contend with your mother, contend; for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband; and let her put away her whoredoms from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: Thou hast destroyed all them that play the harlot, departing from thee.

And Samuel prayed unto Jehovah.And Jehovah said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee; for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not be king over them.According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, in that they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.

Is it not wheat harvest to- day? I will call unto Jehovah, that he may send thunder and rain; and ye shall know and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of Jehovah, in asking you a king.

And Jehovah, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling- place:but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

Many times did he deliver them; But they were rebellious in their counsel, And were brought low in their iniquity.

Thus were they defiled with their works, And played the harlot in their doings.
