Now the rulers of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god and to celebrate, saying,“ Our god has delivered Samson, our enemy, into our hands.”

The Philistine rulers held a great festival, offering sacrifices and praising their god, Dagon. They said,“ Our god has given us victory over our enemy Samson!”

Now the Philistine leaders gathered together to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon. They rejoiced and said: Our god has handed over our enemy Samson to us.

Now the governors of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to celebrate, for they said,“ Our god has handed Samson our enemy over to us.”

非利士人擄了上帝的約櫃，帶進大袞廟，放在大袞的旁邊。次日，亞實突人清早起來，看哪，大袞仆倒在耶和華的約櫃前，臉伏於地，他們就扶起大袞，把它放回原處。又次日，他們清早起來，看哪，大袞仆倒在耶和華的約櫃前，臉伏於地，並且大袞的頭和兩手都在門檻上折斷，只剩下大袞的軀幹。因此，大袞的祭司和所有進大袞廟的人，都不踏亞實突的大袞廟的門檻，直到今日。

將不能朽壞之上帝的榮耀變為偶像，仿照必朽壞的人、飛禽、走獸、爬蟲的形像。所以，上帝任憑他們隨着心裏的情慾行污穢的事，以致彼此羞辱自己的身體。他們將上帝的真實變為虛謊，去敬拜事奉受造之物，不敬奉那造物的主－主是可稱頌的，直到永遠。阿們！

「現在這些人以我為歌曲，以我為笑談。他們厭惡我，躲避我，不住地吐唾沫在我臉上。

他們將掃羅的盔甲放在他們神明的廟裏，把他的首級釘在大袞廟中。

你的仇敵跌倒，你不要歡喜，他傾倒，你的心不要快樂；

我在患難中，他們卻歡喜，大家聚集，我所不認識的卑賤人聚集攻擊我，他們不住地撕裂我。他們試探我，不斷嘲笑我，向我咬牙切齒。

不，我是說，他們所獻的祭是祭鬼，不是祭上帝；我不願意你們與鬼來往。

萬民都奉自己神明的名行事，我們卻要奉耶和華－我們上帝的名而行，直到永永遠遠。

關於吃祭過偶像的食物，我們知道「偶像在世上算不得甚麼」；也知道「上帝只有一位，沒有別的」。雖然在天上或地上有許多所謂的神明，就如他們中間有許多的神明，許多的主，

豈有一國換了它的神明嗎？其實那不是神明！但我的百姓將他們的榮耀換了那無益的東西。
