And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of Jehovah; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands lay cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon’s house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod, unto this day.

and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four- footed beasts, and creeping things.Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves:for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. And now I am become their song, Yea, I am a byword unto them.They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, And spare not to spit in my face.

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, And let not thy heart be glad when he is overthrown;

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have communion with demons.

For all the peoples walk every one in the name of his god; and we will walk in the name of Jehovah our God for ever and ever.

Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no God but one.For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many;

Hath a nation changed its gods, which yet are no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.
