Samuel summoned the people to the LORD at Mizpah

The Ammonites were called together, and they camped in Gilead. So the Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah.

So all the people went to Gilgal, and there in the LORD’s presence they made Saul king. There they sacrificed fellowship offerings in the LORD’s presence, and Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

Dilan, Mizpeh, Jokthe-el,

It is not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.

“ LORD my God, you have now made your servant king in my father David’s place. Yet I am just a youth with no experience in leadership.Your servant is among your people you have chosen, a people too many to be numbered or counted.So give your servant a receptive heart to judge your people and to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of yours?”

Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God— who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly— and it will be given to him.

When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to the priest Abiathar,“ Bring the ephod.”Then David said,“ LORD God of Israel, your servant has reliable information that Saul intends to come to Keilah and destroy the town because of me.Will the citizens of Keilah hand me over to him? LORD God of Israel, please tell your servant.” The LORD answered,“ He will come down.”Then David asked,“ Will the citizens of Keilah hand me and my men over to Saul?”“ They will,” the LORD responded.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
