For it is written:‘ You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”Then the devil left him, and angels came and began ministering to his needs.

So that huge dragon– the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world– was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying,“ The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the ruling authority of his Christ, have now come, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, the one who accuses them day and night before our God, has been thrown down.But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.

Besides, we have experienced discipline from our earthly fathers and we respected them; shall we not submit ourselves all the more to the Father of spirits and receive life?

and submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

He said,“ Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return there. The LORD gives, and the LORD takes away. May the name of the LORD be blessed!”

Now, don’t be stubborn like your fathers! Submit to the LORD and come to his sanctuary which he has permanently consecrated. Serve the LORD your God so that he might relent from his raging anger.

So Samuel told him everything. He did not hold back anything from him. Eli said,“ The LORD will do what he pleases.”

For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

Say to God:“ How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power your enemies cower in fear before you.

But at the end of the appointed time I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up toward heaven, and my sanity returned to me. I extolled the Most High, and I praised and glorified the one who lives forever. For his authority is an everlasting authority, and his kingdom extends from one generation to the next.All the inhabitants of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he wishes with the army of heaven and with those who inhabit the earth. No one slaps his hand and says to him,‘ What have you done?’At that time my sanity returned to me. I was restored to the honor of my kingdom, and my splendor returned to me. My ministers and my nobles were seeking me out, and I was reinstated over my kingdom. I became even greater than before.Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, for all his deeds are right and his ways are just. He is able to bring down those who live in pride.

You will be driven from human society, and you will live with the wild animals. You will be fed grass like oxen, and you will become damp with the dew of the sky. Seven periods of time will pass by for you, before you understand that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms and gives them to whomever he wishes.

The king sent a third captain and his fifty soldiers. This third captain went up and fell on his knees before Elijah. He begged for mercy,“ Prophet, please have respect for my life and for the lives of these fifty servants of yours.Indeed, fire came down from the sky and consumed the two captains who came before me, along with their men. So now, please have respect for my life.”The LORD’s angelic messenger said to Elijah,“ Go down with him. Don’t be afraid of him.” So he got up and went down with him to the king.

When I refused to confess my sin, my whole body wasted away, while I groaned in pain all day long.For day and night you tormented me; you tried to destroy me in the intense heat of summer.( Selah)Then I confessed my sin; I no longer covered up my wrongdoing. I said,“ I will confess my rebellious acts to the LORD.” And then you forgave my sins.( Selah)

Then Job answered the LORD:“ Indeed, I am completely unworthy– how could I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth to silence myself.I have spoken once, but I cannot answer; twice, but I will say no more.”

In his pain Manasseh asked the LORD his God for mercy and truly humbled himself before the God of his ancestors.When he prayed to the LORD, the LORD responded to him and answered favorably his cry for mercy. The LORD brought him back to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh realized that the LORD is the true God.

Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

The LORD told me,“ Tell the king and the queen mother,‘ Surrender your thrones, for your glorious crowns will be removed from your heads.

Then Job answered the LORD:“ I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted;you asked,‘ Who is this who darkens counsel without knowledge?’ But I have declared without understanding things too wonderful for me to know.You said,‘ Pay attention, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will answer me.’I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye has seen you.Therefore I despise myself, and I repent in dust and ashes!

However, if he should say,‘ I do not take pleasure in you,’ then he will deal with me in a way that he considers appropriate.”

Sound your battle cry against the wild beast of the reeds, and the nations that assemble like a herd of calves led by bulls! They humble themselves and offer gold and silver as tribute. God scatters the nations that like to do battle.

But stand up and enter the city and you will be told what you must do.”

“ Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

Calling for lights, the jailer rushed in and fell down trembling at the feet of Paul and Silas.Then he brought them outside and asked,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”They replied,“ Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.”

For it is written,“ As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God.”
