Come now, you who say,“ Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”;

Come now, ye that say, To- day or to- morrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain:

不要為明天誇口，因為你不知明天會怎樣。

於是心裡盤算，『我儲藏農產的地方不夠了，怎麼辦呢？』於是他說，『不如把原有的倉庫拆掉，建幾座更大的，好儲藏我所有的糧食和財物！那時，我就可以對自己說，「你積存這麼多財產，一生享用不盡，現在大可高枕無憂、盡情地吃喝玩樂吧！」』但上帝對他說，『無知的人啊！今晚就要取走你的命！你所預備的一切留給誰享用呢？』」

他們彼此商量說：「來呀，我們燒些磚吧。」他們用磚作石塊，用柏油作水泥來造塔，說：「來吧，讓我們造一座城和一座高聳入雲的塔，這樣我們可以揚名天下，不致分散在地上。」

那時，祭司和百姓，主人和僕人，主母和婢女，買的和賣的，貸的和借的，債主和債戶都必同遭厄運。

我心裡想：「來吧，不如盡情享樂，好好享受！」唉！結果這也是虛空。

你們這些富有的人啊！為那將要臨到你們身上的災難痛哭哀號吧！

哭泣的，要像不哭泣的；歡喜的，要像不歡喜的；置業的，要像一無所有的。

讓我們下去變亂他們的語言，使他們彼此言語不通。」

「現在，我告訴你們我會怎樣處理這葡萄園，我要除去籬笆，任它被毀壞；我要拆毀圍牆，任它被踐踏。

時候到了，日子近了，買主不要歡樂，賣主也不要憂愁，因為烈怒臨到了所有的人。

這些人就像貪吃的狗，不知飽足，又像什麼都不懂的牧人，人人各行其是，追求自己的利益。他們說：「來吧，我去拿酒，讓我們喝個痛快！明天會跟今天一樣，甚至更豐盛。」
