A gentle answer turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath.

Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the one to come.“ Either make the tree good and its fruit will be good, or make the tree bad and its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.A good person produces good things from his storeroom of good, and an evil person produces evil things from his storeroom of evil.I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak.

In the same way these people— relying on their dreams— defile their flesh, reject authority, and slander glorious ones.Yet when Michael the archangel was disputing with the devil in an argument about Moses’s body, he did not dare utter a slanderous condemnation against him but said,“ The Lord rebuke you!”But these people blaspheme anything they do not understand. And what they do understand by instinct— like irrational animals— by these things they are destroyed.

They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lieand so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. (niv)

Of course not! Let not the king accuse your servant or any of his father’s family, for your servant knows nothing at all about this whole affair.”But the king said,“ You will surely die, Ahimelek, you and your whole family.”Then the king ordered the guards at his side:“ Turn and kill the priests of the Lord, because they too have sided with David. They knew he was fleeing, yet they did not tell me.” But the king’s officials were unwilling to raise a hand to strike the priests of the Lord. (niv)

They will keep you from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words. (niv)

“ You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.“ For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.
