頌讚和咒詛從一個口裏出來！我的弟兄們，這是不應當的！

祝頌和咒詛都從同一個口裏出來：我的弟兄們，這是不該這樣的。

祝與詛均出一口、我兄弟乎、此非所宜也、

祝與詛、均由口出、兄弟乎勿如是、

祝讚與咒詛、自一口出、兄弟乎、此非所宜也、

兄弟乎讚美與咒詛、同出一口、有是理乎？

Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. (niv)

But to the wicked person, God says:“ What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? (niv)

Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies who talk nonsense, saying things they ought not to. (niv)

Do not trust in deceptive words and say,“ This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!”If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,if you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm,then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your ancestors for ever and ever.But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.“‘ Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say,“ We are safe”— safe to do all these detestable things? (niv)

Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they look for the Lord’s support and say,“ Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.” (niv)

Then Abimelek called Abraham in and said,“ What have you done to us? How have I wronged you that you have brought such great guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should never be done.” (niv)

“ No, my brother!” she said to him.“ Don’t force me! Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don’t do this wicked thing. (niv)
