because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Those who have not shown mercy will not receive mercy when they are judged. To show mercy is better than to judge.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

“ That servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him, started choking him, and said,‘ Pay what you owe!’“ At this, his fellow servant fell down and began begging him,‘ Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’But he wasn’t willing. Instead, he went and threw him into prison until he could pay what was owed.When the other servants saw what had taken place, they were deeply distressed and went and reported to their master everything that had happened.Then, after he had summoned him, his master said to him,‘ You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’And because he was angry, his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured until he could pay everything that was owed.So also my heavenly Father will do to you unless every one of you forgives his brother or sister from your heart.”

“ Then he will also say to those on the left,‘ Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels!For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink;I was a stranger and you didn’t take me in; I was naked and you didn’t clothe me, sick and in prison and you didn’t take care of me.’“ Then they too will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or sick, or in prison, and not help you?’“ Then he will answer them,‘ Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’“ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

“ Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged.For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us,made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus,so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Faithful love and truth will join together; righteousness and peace will embrace.

Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger forever because he delights in faithful love.

With the faithful you prove yourself faithful, with the blameless you prove yourself blameless,

The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him.Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another.No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and his love is made complete in us.This is how we know that we remain in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.And we have seen and we testify that the Father has sent his Son as the world’s Savior.Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God— God remains in him and he in God.And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.

For you took collateral from your brothers without cause, stripping off their clothes and leaving them naked.You gave no water to the thirsty and withheld food from the famished,while the land belonged to a powerful man and an influential man lived on it.You sent widows away empty-handed, and the strength of the fatherless was crushed.Therefore snares surround you, and sudden dread terrifies you,

Look! The pay that you withheld from the workers who mowed your fields cries out, and the outcry of the harvesters has reached the ears of the Lord of Armies.

Then they said to each other,“ Obviously, we are being punished for what we did to our brother. We saw his deep distress when he pleaded with us, but we would not listen. That is why this trouble has come to us.”

But the one who boasts should boast in this: that he understands and knows me— that I am the LORD, showing faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for I delight in these things. This is the LORD’s declaration.
