Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

此固我親愛兄弟之所知也。人人應敏於聽、而訥於言。慎毋動怒、

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

My dear brothers and sisters, pay attention to what I say. Everyone should be quick to listen. But they should be slow to speak. They should be slow to get angry.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.

My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger,

He that hath knowledge spareth his words:[ and] a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips[ is] wise.

He that answereth a matter before he heareth[ it], it[ is] folly and shame unto him.

[ He that is] slow to wrath[ is] of great understanding: but[ he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life:[ but] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

[ He that is] slow to anger[ is] better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but[ he that is] slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Better[ is] the end of a thing than the beginning thereof:[ and] the patient in spirit[ is] better than the proud in spirit.Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter[ any] thing before God: for God[ is] in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice[ is known] by multitude of words.

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and[ it is] his glory to pass over a transgression.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Death and life[ are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

[ He that is] soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

He that[ hath] no rule over his own spirit[ is like] a city[ that is] broken down,[ and] without walls.

The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

The beginning of strife[ is as] when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed[ are they that] keep my ways.Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.Blessed[ is] the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received[ it] not[ as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told[ you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver[ him], yet thou must do it again.

And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou[ art] a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion[ is] vain.

I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same[ is] a perfect man,[ and] able also to bridle the whole body.

And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God[ one] fourth part of the day; and[ another] fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.

And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.And he read therein before the street that[ was] before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people[ were attentive] unto the book of the law.

David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he[ then] his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day[ was] a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive[ them], no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
