They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish.They say,“ Come on, let’s annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more.”Yes, they devise a unified strategy; they form an alliance against you.It includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites,Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre.Even Assyria has allied with them, lending its strength to the descendants of Lot.( Selah)Do to them as you did to Midian– as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River!They were destroyed at Endor; their corpses were like manure on the ground.Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna,who said,“ Let’s take over the pastures of God!”O my God, make them like dead thistles, like dead weeds blown away by the wind!Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides,chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm.Cover their faces with shame, so they might seek you, O LORD.May they be humiliated and continually terrified! May they die in shame!Then they will know that you alone are the LORD, the sovereign king over all the earth.

There is no wisdom and there is no understanding, and there is no counsel against the LORD.

God is our strong refuge; he is truly our helper in times of trouble.

The LORD frustrates the decisions of the nations; he nullifies the plans of the peoples.The LORD’s decisions stand forever; his plans abide throughout the ages.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you– yes, I help you– yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!

When you go to war against your enemies and see chariotry and troops who outnumber you, do not be afraid of them, for the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, is with you.

Why do the nations rebel? Why are the countries devising plots that will fail?The kings of the earth form a united front; the rulers collaborate against the LORD and his anointed king.

For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. He shoulders responsibility and is called: Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Whatever you plot against the LORD, he will completely destroy! Distress will not arise a second time.Surely they will be totally consumed like entangled thorn bushes, like the drink of drunkards, like very dry stubble.From you, O Nineveh, one has marched forth who plots evil against the LORD, a wicked military strategist.This is what the LORD says:“ Even though they are powerful– and what is more, even though their army is numerous– nevertheless, they will be destroyed and trickle away! Although I afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.

This seemed like a good idea to Absalom and to all the leaders of Israel.

He put an idolatrous image he had made in God’s temple, about which God had said to David and to his son Solomon,“ This temple in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will be my permanent home.I will not make Israel again leave the land I gave to their ancestors, provided that they carefully obey all I commanded them, the whole law, the rules and regulations given to Moses.”
