於是亞述王答應了他。亞述王上去攻打大馬士革，把城攻取，把居民擄到吉珥，又把利汛殺死了。

“耶和華這樣說：‘大馬士革三番四次犯罪，我必不收回懲罰他的命令（“我必不收回懲罰他的命令”直譯作“我必不扭轉它”）；因為他用打穀的鐵器蹂躪基列。我必降火在哈薛的王宮，燒毀便．哈達的堡壘。我必折斷大馬士革的門閂，剪除亞文平原的居民，以及伯．伊甸掌權的首領；亞蘭的人民也必被擄至吉珥。’這是耶和華說的。

在責罰的日子，以法蓮必成為荒場。我要在以色列各支派中宣告一定會發生的事情。

何況這尼尼微大城，其中不曉得分辨左右手的有十二萬多人，並且有許多牲畜，我怎能不愛惜呢？”

以色列王比加在位的日子，亞述王提革拉．毗列色前來，攻取了以雲、亞伯．伯．瑪迦、亞挪、基低斯、夏瑣、基列、加利利和拿弗他利全地，把居民擄到亞述去。烏西雅的兒子約坦在位第二十年，以拉的兒子何細亞陰謀背叛利瑪利的兒子比加，擊打他，把他殺死，接續他作王。

關於大馬士革的默示：“看哪！大馬士革快要被廢棄，不再是一個城市，它必變作廢墟。亞羅珥的城市必被撇棄，成為牧放羊群之處，羊群必在那裡躺臥，沒有人驚擾牠們。以法蓮的堡壘必失去，大馬士革的國權也必消逝；亞蘭的餘民必像以色列人的榮耀一般消滅。”這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

因此，耶和華必興起利汛的敵人來攻擊以色列，並且要激動以色列的仇敵。
