When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.

Ahaz was king of Judah. Rezin was king of Aram. And Pekah was king of Israel. Rezin and Pekah marched up to fight against Jerusalem. But they couldn’t overpower it. Ahaz was the son of Jotham and the grandson of Uzziah. Pekah was the son of Remaliah.

In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not yet mount an attack against it.

When Ahaz, son of Jotham and grandson of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah, the king of Israel, set out to attack Jerusalem. However, they were unable to carry out their plan.

亞哈斯登極的時候二十歲；他在耶路撒冷作王十六年。他不像他的祖大衛行永恆主所看為對的事，卻走以色列諸王的路。竟為巴力造了鑄像；並且在欣嫩子平谷中燒香，將兒女用火燒獻為祭，像永恆主從以色列人面前所驅逐的外國人所行可厭惡的事一樣；他並且在邱壇上、在山岡上、和各茂盛樹下宰牲燻祭。因此永恆主他的上帝將他交在亞蘭王手裏；亞蘭王擊敗了他，從他的人民中擄了一大羣俘虜，帶到大馬色去。上帝又將他交在以色列王手裏，以色列王大大地擊殺了他。利瑪利的兒子比加一天之內在猶大殺了十二萬人，都是壯士，因為他們離棄了永恆主他們列祖的上帝。

對他說：「你要謹慎、鎮靜，不要因亞蘭王利汛和利瑪利的兒子這兩個冒煙的火把頭所發怒氣之猛烈而害怕，不要心裏膽怯。因為亞蘭、以法蓮和利瑪利的兒子、陰謀要害你，說：『我們來上去攻擊猶大，使它恐怖，攻破它來歸我們，在那中間立他比勒的兒子為王』，因此主永恆主這麼說：這計謀必立不住，也不能實現；因為亞蘭的首都是大馬色，大馬色的首領是利汛；以法蓮的首都是撒瑪利亞，撒瑪利亞的首領是利瑪利的兒子；六年五年之內以法蓮一定破敗、不能成為一族之民：你們若不信靠，一定不能牢靠。」』
