Hear that uproar from the city, hear that noise from the temple! It is the sound of the Lord repaying his enemies all they deserve.

Hear the loud sounds coming from the city! Listen to the noise coming from the temple! I am the one causing it. I am paying back my enemies for everything they have done.

The sound of battle comes from the city; the sound comes from the temple! It is the sound of the LORD paying back his enemies.

Behold, I will stir them up out of the place where you have sold them, and will return your repayment on your own head;and I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the children of Judah, and they will sell them to the men of Sheba, to a faraway nation, for Yahweh has spoken it.”Proclaim this among the nations:“ Prepare for war! Stir up the mighty men. Let all the warriors draw near. Let them come up.Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weak say,‘ I am strong.’Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves together.” Cause your mighty ones to come down there, Yahweh.“ Let the nations arouse themselves, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat; for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.Put in the sickle; for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread, for the wine press is full, the vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.”Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of Yahweh is near, in the valley of decision.The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.Yahweh will roar from Zion, and thunder from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth will shake; but Yahweh will be a refuge to his people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel.

For Yahweh has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

He said:“ Yahweh will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds will mourn, and the top of Carmel will wither.”

According to their deeds, he will repay as appropriate, wrath to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies; he will repay the islands their due.

who say,‘ Stay by yourself, don’t come near to me, for I am holier than you.’ These are smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all day.“ Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will repay, yes, I will repay into their bosom,your own iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together”, says Yahweh,“ who have burned incense on the mountains, and blasphemed me on the hills. Therefore I will first measure their work into their bosom.”
