For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. (niv)

So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. (niv)

When I came, why was there no one? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Was my arm too short to deliver you? Do I lack the strength to rescue you? By a mere rebuke I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst. (niv)

and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lieand so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick; (niv)
