我要命定你们归在刀下，都必屈身被杀；因为我呼唤，你们没有答应；我说话，你们没有听从；反倒行我眼中看为恶的，拣选我所不喜悦的。”

我必命爾亡於鋒刃、使爾屈身受戮、因我有命爾不應、有言爾不從、行我所惡、擇我所不悅也、○

我有命、爾不應、我有言、爾不從、我所不悅者、爾故為之、我所不喜者、爾故舉之、必數爾罪、使屈身受戮。

我命定爾為鋒刃所殺、屈身被戮、因我召爾、爾不應、我有言、我有言或作我誨爾爾不聽、行我所惡者、行我所惡者或作行惡於我前擇我所不悅者、

I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will fall in the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me.”

So I will make it your fate to be killed by swords. All of you will die in the battle. That’s because I called out to you, but you did not answer me. I spoke to you, but you did not listen. You did what is evil in my sight. You chose to do what does not please me.”

now I will‘ destine’ you for the sword. All of you will bow down before the executioner. For when I called, you did not answer. When I spoke, you did not listen. You deliberately sinned— before my very eyes— and chose to do what you know I despise.”

Yet the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place;but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against His people, until there was no remedy.

And when the harvest time approached, he sent his slaves to the vine growers to receive his fruit.And the vine growers took his slaves and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.Again, he sent other slaves, more than the first; and they did the same things to them.But afterward he sent his son to them, saying,‘ They will respect my son.’But when the vine growers saw the son, they said among themselves,‘ This is the heir; come, let’s kill him and take possession of his inheritance!’And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine growers?”They* said to Him,“ He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and lease the vineyard to other vine growers, who will pay him the fruit in the proper seasons.”Jesus* said to them,“ Did you never read in the Scriptures,‘ A stone which the builders rejected, This has become the chief cornerstone; This came about from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes’?Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruit.

But they refused to pay attention, and turned a stubborn shoulder and plugged their ears from hearing.They also made their hearts as hard as a diamond so that they could not hear the Law and the words which the Lord of armies had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from the Lord of armies.And just as He called and they would not listen, so they called and I would not listen,” says the Lord of armies;

Why was there no one when I came? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Is My hand so short that it cannot redeem? Or do I have no power to rescue? Behold, I dry up the sea with My rebuke, I turn rivers into a wilderness; Their fish stink for lack of water, And die of thirst.

Are these not the words which the Lord proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and carefree along with its cities around it, and the Negev and the foothills were inhabited?’ ”

Now the king was angry, and he sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and set their city on fire.

Or if I were to bring a sword on that country and say,‘ A sword is to pass through the country,’ and I eliminated human and animal life from it,even though these three men were in its midst, as I live,” declares the Lord God,“ they could not save either their sons or their daughters, but they alone would be saved.Or if I were to send a plague against that country and pour out My wrath on it in blood to eliminate man and animal from it,even though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst, as I live,” declares the Lord God,“ they could not save either their son or their daughter. They would save only themselves by their righteousness.”For this is what the Lord God says:“ How much more when I send My four severe judgments against Jerusalem: sword, famine, vicious animals, and plague to eliminate human and animal life from it!

Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention;And you neglected all my advice And did not want my rebuke;I will also laugh at your disaster; I will mock when your dread comes,When your dread comes like a storm And your disaster comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but will not find me,Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord.They did not accept my advice, They disdainfully rejected every rebuke from me.So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled with their own schemes.For the faithlessness of the naive will kill them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them.But whoever listens to me will live securely And will be at ease from the dread of evil.”

But when I look, there is no one, And there is no counselor among them Who, if I ask, can give an answer.

Outside the sword will make them childless, And inside, terror— Both young man and virgin, The nursing child with the man of gray hair.

He came to His own, and His own people did not accept Him.

“ Therefore this is what the Lord says:‘ You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming release, each one to his brother and each to his neighbor. Behold, I am proclaiming a release to you,’ declares the Lord,‘ to the sword, to the plague, and to the famine; and I will make you a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

Therefore, give their children over to famine And turn them over to the power of the sword; And let their wives become childless and widowed. Let their men also be slaughtered to death, Their young men struck and killed by the sword in battle.

“ But the one who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a person; The one who sacrifices a lamb is like one who breaks a dog’s neck; One who offers a grain offering is like one who offers pig’s blood; One who burns incense is like one who blesses an idol. As they have chosen their own ways, And their souls delight in their abominations,So I will choose their punishments And bring on them what they dread. Because I called, but no one answered; I spoke, but they did not listen. Instead, they did evil in My sight And chose that in which I did not delight.”

“ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil,

On that day the Lord will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, With His fierce and great and mighty sword, Even Leviathan the twisted serpent; And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea.

Your men will fall by the sword And your mighty ones in battle.

A people who continually provoke Me to My face, Offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on bricks;

I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute vengeance for the covenant; and when you gather together into your cities, I will send a plague among you, so that you will be handed over to the enemy.

For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their wrongdoing concealed from My eyes.

And he sent his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast, and they were unwilling to come.

Nothing remains but to crouch among the captives Or fall among those killed. In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away And His hand is still stretched out.

“ So I will stretch out My hand against Judah And against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And I will eliminate the remnant of Baal from this place, And the names of the idolatrous priests along with the other priests.And those who bow down on the housetops to the heavenly lights, And those who bow down and swear to the Lord, but also swear by Milcom,And those who have turned back from following the Lord, And those who have not sought the Lord nor inquired of Him.”
