He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him.

He sees that there is no one who helps his people. He is shocked that no one stands up for them. So he will use his own powerful arm to save them. He has the strength to do it because he is holy.

亞伯拉罕近前來說：「你真要把義人與惡人一同除滅嗎？假如那城中有五十個義人，你真的還會除滅它，而不因城中這五十個義人饒恕那地方嗎？你絕不會做這樣的事：把義人與惡人一同殺死，讓義人像惡人一樣！你絕不會！難道全地的審判者不施行公正嗎？」耶和華說：「如果我在所多瑪城中找到五十個義人，我就會因他們的緣故饒恕那整個地方。」亞伯拉罕回應說：「看哪，儘管我是塵土和灰燼，也容我斗膽向我主說，假如這五十個義人中缺少五個，難道你會因缺少五個而毀滅全城嗎？」耶和華說：「如果我在那裡找到四十五個，我也不會毀滅那城。」亞伯拉罕又繼續問他說：「假如在那裡找到四十個呢？」耶和華就說：「因這四十個的緣故，我也不會這樣做。」亞伯拉罕接著說：「請我主不要惱火，容我說，假如在那裡找到三十個呢？」耶和華說：「如果我在那裡找到三十個，我也不會這樣做。」亞伯拉罕又說：「看哪，我再次斗膽向我主說，假如在那裡找到二十個呢？」耶和華說：「因這二十個的緣故，我也不會毀滅那城。」亞伯拉罕再次說：「請我主不要惱火，容我說最後一次，假如在那裡找到十個呢？」耶和華說：「因這十個的緣故，我也不會毀滅那城。」

「我獨自踹酒槽，萬民中沒有一人與我在一起。我在怒氣中踹他們，在怒火中踩踏他們；他們的血水濺在我的衣服上，我把全身的衣服都染汙了；因為報復之日已在我心中，我的救贖之年已經來到。我觀看，竟沒有一人幫助；我震驚，竟沒有一人扶助；於是我自己的膀臂為我帶來了拯救，我自己的怒火扶助了我。

耶和華在萬國的眼前，顯露他聖潔的膀臂；所有地極都看見我們神的救恩。

所以他說要除滅他們；要不是他所揀選的摩西在他面前站在破口處，使他的怒火轉消，他早就毀掉他們了！

然而，當我看的時候，卻沒有一個；當我問的時候，它們中間也沒有一個謀士可以回答。

因為他們的不信，耶穌十分感慨。於是，他就走遍各村莊四處教導人。

為什麼我來的時候，沒有人在呢？為什麼我呼喚的時候，沒有人回應呢？難道我的手臂太短不能救贖嗎？難道我沒有能力解救嗎？看哪！我發出斥責，使海洋乾涸，使河流成為曠野；其中的魚因無水而發臭，因乾渴而死去。

沒有人呼求你的名，沒有人奮起去緊抓你；因為你向我們掩面，使我們在自己罪孽的權勢下消融。
