保羅這樣申辯的時候，菲斯特斯大聲說：「保羅，你瘋了！你學問太大，使你癲狂了。」

因為我們如果癲狂，是為了神；如果清醒，是為了你們。

耶和華啊，求你拯救！因為忠信的人不存在了，忠實的人從世人中消失了。人人向鄰舍說謊，他們說話油嘴滑舌，心懷二意。

「雅各家啊——你們是被稱為以色列名下的，是從猶大水源而出的；你們指著耶和華的名起誓並提說以色列的神，不憑誠實，也不憑公義；

另有些人經受了戲弄、鞭打的試煉；還有些人受了捆鎖、監禁的試煉；他們被石頭砸死，被鋸成兩截，被刀劍殺死，披著綿羊、山羊的皮四處漂泊，遭受窮困、患難和虐待。他們是這世界不配有的。他們在曠野、山嶺、岩穴、地洞中漂流無定。

哀悼的日子過了，大衛派人去把她接到宮裡，她就作了大衛的妻子，為他生了一個兒子。大衛所做的這事，在耶和華眼中看為惡。

正如經上所記：「為你的緣故，我們終日被置於死地，被看為要宰殺的羊。」

猶太人說：「現在我們知道你是有鬼魔附身的。亞伯拉罕死了，先知們也死了，你還說『人如果遵守我的話語，就絕不會嘗到死的滋味，直到永遠。』

其中有許多人說：「他有鬼魔附身，發瘋了！何必聽他的呢？」
