Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice.

过了许多日子以后，犹太人商议要杀了扫罗，

扫罗仍然向主的门徒们口吐凶杀威吓的话。他来到大祭司面前，

保罗这样申辩的时候，菲斯特斯大声说：“保罗，你疯了！你学问太大，使你癫狂了。”

因为我们如果癫狂，是为了神；如果清醒，是为了你们。

耶和华啊，求你拯救！因为忠信的人不存在了，忠实的人从世人中消失了。人人向邻舍说谎，他们说话油嘴滑舌，心怀二意。

“雅各家啊——你们是被称为以色列名下的，是从犹大水源而出的；你们指着耶和华的名起誓并提说以色列的神，不凭诚实，也不凭公义；

另有些人经受了戏弄、鞭打的试炼；还有些人受了捆锁、监禁的试炼；他们被石头砸死，被锯成两截，被刀剑杀死，披着绵羊、山羊的皮四处漂泊，遭受穷困、患难和虐待。他们是这世界不配有的。他们在旷野、山岭、岩穴、地洞中漂流无定。

正如经上所记：“为你的缘故，我们终日被置于死地，被看为要宰杀的羊。”

犹太人说：“现在我们知道你是有鬼魔附身的。亚伯拉罕死了，先知们也死了，你还说‘人如果遵守我的话语，就绝不会尝到死的滋味，直到永远。’

其中有许多人说：“他有鬼魔附身，发疯了！何必听他的呢？”
