I was enraged by their sinful greed; I punished them, and hid my face in anger, yet they kept on in their willful ways.

I was very angry with them. They always longed for more and more of everything. So I punished them for that sin. I turned my face away from them because I was angry. But they kept on wanting their own way.

Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain I was angry, I struck him; I hid my face and was angry, but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart.

主曰、我必使其妻室歸他人、使其田畝歸他人為業、緣彼自小至大、俱貪不義之財、先知及祭司俱行詭詐、

遂謂眾曰、慎哉、勿貪婪、蓋人之生命、不在家貲豐裕、

禍哉、造孽之國、負罪之民、行惡之種、敗壞之子、違棄主、侮以色列之聖者、背主而退、

耗盡一切、其地又遇大饑、始覺窮乏缺食、遂往投其地一民家、遣之於田牧豕、欲以豕所食之荳莢充腹、而無人予之、

禍哉、爾曹增室於室、增田於田、以致不遺隙地、爾欲獨居斯地乎、萬有之主示我曰、原文作我耳聞萬有之主言曰屋宇眾多、必變荒蕪、大而美之宅第、無人居處、

彼就爾來、若民之會集、坐於爾前、如為我民、聽爾言而不行、口言親愛、心向利欲、

主歟、主目顧誠實、主責之、彼不哀慟、彼不哀慟或作彼不覺痛幾乎殲滅之、彼仍不受教、彼顏堅於石、不肯歸誠、

貪田而奪之、貪宅而取之、待人以虐、待人以虐或作向人行強暴佔其室、據其業、故主如是云、我必圖維降罰罰或作災下同於斯家、如加重軛於頸項、使爾頸項永不得脫、亦不復得昂首而行、蓋時乃降罰之時、

今主雖掩面不顧雅各家、我仍伺候主、仰望主、

彼由貪婪、以飾言惑爾、視如貿易得利、彼受鞫見罰、自古擬定、速至不遲、彼之淪亡即臨、即臨原文作不寢

圖富有者陷誘惑、罹網羅、墮無理有害之慾中即溺人於沈淪及滅亡者也、

目睹勝於心戀、然皆屬於虛、皆如捕風、○

斯民仍不歸向懲之者、不尋求萬有之主、

故當滅爾在地之肢體所作之罪、即姦淫、污穢、邪侈、惡慾、貪婪、貪婪與拜偶像同罪、

其目充於姦淫、獲罪不已、誘惑不堅者之心、慣於貪婪、是為可詛之輩、

施救者以色列之天主歟、果為隱而不顯之主、
