You wearied yourself by such going about, but you would not say,‘ It is hopeless.’ You found renewal of your strength, and so you did not faint.

You wore yourself out with all your efforts. But you would not say,‘ It’s hopeless.’ You received new strength. So you did not give up.

You were wearied with the length of your way, but you did not say,“ It is hopeless”; you found new life for your strength, and so you were not faint.

You grew weary in your search, but you never gave up. Desire gave you renewed strength, and you did not grow weary.

我說，『不要因追隨假神而跑破鞋子，喉嚨乾渴。』你卻說，『不行！我愛外族的神明，一定要跟隨他們。』

他們卻說，『不！我們喜歡隨心所欲，為所欲為。』」

他們彼此欺騙，不說真話；他們說謊成性，不知疲倦地肆意犯罪；

耶和華啊，你要的不是誠實嗎？你責打他們，他們不感到疼痛；你嚴懲他們，他們仍不受教。他們屢教不改，臉比石頭還硬。

眾多的計謀使你疲憊不堪，讓那些觀天象、每月說預言的占星家來救你脫離將臨的災禍吧！

列邦的財富都化為灰燼，列國勞碌卻是一場空。這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

你們為什麼這樣忽東忽西地變來變去呢？你們投奔埃及必蒙羞辱，就像從前投奔亞述一樣。

因此，秋雨不降，春雨不來。你卻仍然不知羞恥，一副娼妓的嘴臉。

但我們必照所許的願向天后燒香奠酒，正如我們和我們的祖先、君王和官長在猶大各城和耶路撒冷街上所做的一樣。那時，我們食物充足，生活幸福，無災無禍。但自從我們停止向天后燒香奠酒後，我們便一無所有，不斷有人死於戰爭和饑荒。」

我沒認識律法之前是活的，但律法來了之後，罪就活了，而我卻死了。

亞哈斯在患難時越發悖逆耶和華，竟去祭拜打敗他的大馬士革人的神明，說：「既然亞蘭王的神明幫助了亞蘭人，我要向這些神明獻祭，以便它們幫助我。」但那些神明導致了他和全體以色列人的滅亡。

卻徒勞無功，因為鏽垢太厚，就是用火也不能清除。
