As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

The rain and the snow come down from the sky. They do not return to it without watering the earth. They make plants come up and grow. The plants produce seeds for farmers. They also produce food for people to eat.

正如经上所记：“他施舍，赐予穷人；他的义行永远常存。”供应种子给撒种的，又供应粮食给人吃的那一位，将要供给并增加你们的种子，而且增多你们义行的果子，使你们在一切事上都得以富足，以致十分慷慨，就藉着我们生出对神的感谢之心。

主必赐下雨水给你播在地里的种子，并要使地里出肥美丰盛的粮食。到那日，你的牲畜将在宽阔的草场上吃草；

大地怎样使幼苗长出，园林怎样使所种下的发芽，照样，主耶和华也必使公义和赞美在万国面前发出。

这两个人有权柄闭塞天空，使雨水在他们做先知传道的日子不降下来；又有权柄统管众水，使水变成血，并且能随时随意用各样灾害击打大地。

你眷顾大地，浇灌它，使它极其肥沃；神的河渠满了水；你为人们预备五谷；你就是这样预备了大地。你润泽它的犁沟，平整它的犁脊；你用细雨使地松软，祝福其中所生长的。你以恩惠为年岁的冠冕，你的路径都滴下脂油，滴在旷野的牧场上；冈陵也以快乐束腰；草场以羊群为衣，谷中都盖满了五谷；这一切都欢呼歌唱！

他必降临，如同雨水降在割过的草地上，又如细雨滋润大地。在他的日子里，义人必兴盛，并有丰盛的平安，如月长存。

我必使它荒废，既不修剪，也不翻耕，任荆棘和蒺藜长起来；我还要吩咐乌云不降雨水在其上。

于是大卫再次求问耶和华。耶和华回答他，说：“起身，下到基伊拉去，因为我必把非利士人交在你手中。”
