“ Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with lapis lazuli.

“ Suffering city, you have been beaten by storms. You have not been comforted. I will rebuild you with turquoise stones. I will rebuild your foundations with lapis lazuli.

“ O storm battered city, troubled and desolate! I will rebuild you with precious jewels and make your foundations from lapis lazuli.

“ Poor Jerusalem, storm-tossed, and not comforted, I will set your stones in black mortar, and lay your foundations in lapis lazuli.

“ Afflicted one, storm tossed, and not comforted, Behold, I will set your stones in antimony, And I will lay your foundations with sapphires.

“ O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires.

O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set thy stones in fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.

So as you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and priceless in God’s sight,you yourselves, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood and to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.For it says in scripture,“ Look, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and priceless cornerstone, and whoever believes in him will never be put to shame.”

So I have made every effort to provide what is needed for the temple of my God, including the gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, as well as a large amount of onyx, settings of antimony and other stones, all kinds of precious stones, and alabaster.

Yes, I will restore you to health. I will heal your wounds. I, the LORD, affirm it! For you have been called an outcast, Zion, whom no one cares for.”

I tell you the solemn truth, you will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice; you will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.When a woman gives birth, she has distress because her time has come, but when her child is born, she no longer remembers the suffering because of her joy that a human being has been born into the world.So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

“ Zion said,‘ The LORD has abandoned me, the sovereign master has forgotten me.’

The godly face many dangers, but the LORD saves them from each one of them.

And a great storm developed on the sea so that the waves began to swamp the boat. But he was asleep.

I weep because of these things; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one in sight who can comfort me or encourage me. My children are desolated because an enemy has prevailed.פ( Pe)Zion spread out her hands, but there is no one to comfort her. The Lord has issued a decree against Jacob; his neighbors have become his enemies. Jerusalem has become like filthy garbage in their midst.צ( Tsade)

In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was struck down, on this very day, the hand of the LORD was on me, and he brought me there.By means of divine visions he brought me to the land of Israel and placed me on a very high mountain, and on it was a structure like a city, to the south.When he brought me there, I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze, with a linen cord and a measuring stick in his hand. He was standing in the gateway.The man said to me,“ Son of man, watch closely, listen carefully, and pay attention to everything I show you, for you have been brought here so that I can show it to you. Tell the house of Israel everything you see.”I saw a wall all around the outside of the temple. In the man’s hand was a measuring stick 10½ feet long. He measured the thickness of the wall as 10½ feet, and its height as 10½ feet.Then he went to the gate facing east. He climbed its steps and measured the threshold of the gate as 10½ feet deep.The alcoves were 10½ feet long and 10½ feet wide; between the alcoves were 8¾ feet. The threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate facing inward was 10½ feet.Then he measured the porch of the gate facing inward as 10½ feet.He measured the porch of the gate as 14 feet, and its jambs as 3½ feet; the porch of the gate faced inward.There were three alcoves on each side of the east gate; the three had the same measurement, and the jambs on either side had the same measurement.He measured the width of the entrance of the gateway as 17½ feet, and the length of the gateway as 22¾ feet.There was a barrier in front of the alcoves, 1¾ feet on either side; the alcoves were 10½ feet on either side.He measured the gateway from the roof of one alcove to the roof of the other, a width of 43¾ feet from one entrance to the opposite one.He measured the porch at 105 feet high; the gateway went all around to the jamb of the courtyard.From the front of the entrance gate to the porch of the inner gate was 87½ feet.There were closed windows toward the alcoves and toward their jambs within the gate all around, and likewise for the porches. There were windows all around the inside, and on each jamb were decorative palm trees.Then he brought me to the outer court. I saw chambers there, and a pavement made for the court all around; thirty chambers faced the pavement.The pavement was beside the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates; this was the lower pavement.Then he measured the width from before the lower gate to the front of the exterior of the inner court as 175 feet on the east and on the north.He measured the length and width of the gate of the outer court which faces north.Its alcoves, three on each side, and its jambs and porches had the same measurement as the first gate; 87½ feet long and 43¾ feet wide.Its windows, its porches, and its decorative palm trees had the same measurement as the gate which faced east. Seven steps led up to it, and its porch was in front of them.Opposite the gate on the north and the east was a gate of the inner court; he measured the distance from gate to gate at 175 feet.Then he led me toward the south. I saw a gate on the south. He measured its jambs and its porches; they had the same dimensions as the others.There were windows all around it and its porches, like the windows of the others; 87½ feet long and 43¾ feet wide.There were seven steps going up to it; its porches were in front of them. It had decorative palm trees on its jambs, one on either side.The inner court had a gate toward the south; he measured it from gate to gate toward the south as 175 feet.Then he brought me to the inner court by the south gate. He measured the south gate; it had the same dimensions as the others.Its alcoves, its jambs, and its porches had the same dimensions as the others, and there were windows all around it and its porches; its length was 87½ feet and its width 43¾ feet.There were porches all around, 43¾ feet long and 8¾ feet wide.Its porches faced the outer court, and decorative palm trees were on its jambs, and its stairway had eight steps.Then he brought me to the inner court on the east side. He measured the gate; it had the same dimensions as the others.Its alcoves, its jambs, and its porches had the same dimensions as the others, and there were windows all around it and its porches; its length was 87½ feet and its width 43¾ feet.Its porches faced the outer court, it had decorative palm trees on its jambs, and its stairway had eight steps.Then he brought me to the north gate, and he measured it; it had the same dimensions as the others–its alcoves, its jambs, and its porches. It had windows all around it; its length was 87½ feet and its width 43¾ feet.Its jambs faced the outer court, and it had decorative palm trees on its jambs, on either side, and its stairway had eight steps.There was a chamber with its door by the porch of the gate; there they washed the burnt offering.In the porch of the gate were two tables on either side on which to slaughter the burnt offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering.On the outside of the porch as one goes up at the entrance of the north gate were two tables, and on the other side of the porch of the gate were two tables.Four tables were on each side of the gate, eight tables on which the sacrifices were to be slaughtered.The four tables for the burnt offering were of carved stone, 32 inches long, 32 inches wide, and 21 inches high. They would put the instruments which they used to slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice on them.

Above the platform over their heads was something like a sapphire shaped like a throne. High above on the throne was a form that appeared to be a man.

At that time my anger will erupt against them and I will abandon them and hide my face from them until they are devoured. Many disasters and distresses will overcome them so that they will say at that time,‘ Have not these disasters overcome us because our God is not among us?’

I will put it into the hand of your tormentors who said to you,‘ Lie down, so we can walk over you.’ You made your back like the ground, and like the street for those who walked over you.”Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O Zion! Put on your beautiful clothes, O Jerusalem, holy city! For uncircumcised and unclean pagans will no longer invade you.Shake off the dirt! Get up, captive Jerusalem! Take off the iron chains around your neck, O captive daughter Zion!For this is what the LORD says:“ You were sold for nothing, and you will not be redeemed for money.”For this is what the sovereign LORD says:“ In the beginning my people went to live temporarily in Egypt; Assyria oppressed them for no good reason.And now, what do we have here?” says the LORD.“ Indeed my people have been carried away for nothing, those who rule over them taunt,” says the LORD,“ and my name is constantly slandered all day long.

During that long period of time the king of Egypt died, and the Israelites groaned because of the slave labor. They cried out, and their desperate cry because of their slave labor went up to God.

The LORD said,“ I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt. I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

“ Indeed, the LORD will call you back like a wife who has been abandoned and suffers from depression, like a young wife when she has been rejected,” says your God.

and they saw the God of Israel. Under his feet there was something like a pavement made of sapphire, clear like the sky itself.

They strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying,“ We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.”

How will they respond to the messengers of this nation? Indeed, the LORD has made Zion secure; the oppressed among his people will find safety in her.

Alas! The city once full of people now sits all alone! The prominent lady among the nations has become a widow! The princess who once ruled the provinces has become a forced laborer!ב( Bet)She weeps bitterly at night; tears stream down her cheeks. She has no one to comfort her among all her lovers. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.ג( Gimel)

“ Since my youth they have often attacked me,” let Israel say.“ Since my youth they have often attacked me, but they have not defeated me.The plowers plowed my back; they made their furrows long.

The angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from within a bush. He looked– and the bush was ablaze with fire, but it was not being consumed!

So listen to this, oppressed one, who is drunk, but not from wine!

You are to set in it a setting for stones, four rows of stones, a row with a ruby, a topaz, and a beryl– the first row;and the second row, a turquoise, a sapphire, and an emerald;and the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;and the fourth row, a chrysolite, an onyx, and a jasper. They are to be enclosed in gold in their filigree settings.

The city’s wall is made of jasper and the city is pure gold, like transparent glass.The foundations of the city’s wall are decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation is jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.And the twelve gates are twelve pearls– each one of the gates is made from just one pearl! The main street of the city is pure gold, like transparent glass.

By royal order they supplied large valuable stones in order to build the temple’s foundation with chiseled stone.

Wake up! Wake up! Get up, O Jerusalem! You drank from the cup the LORD passed to you, which was full of his anger! You drained dry the goblet full of intoxicating wine.There was no one to lead her among all the children she bore; there was no one to take her by the hand among all the children she raised.These double disasters confronted you. But who feels sorry for you? Destruction and devastation, famine and sword. But who consoles you?

They set on it four rows of stones: a row with a ruby, a topaz, and a beryl– the first row;and the second row, a turquoise, a sapphire, and an emerald;and the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;and the fourth row, a chrysolite, an onyx, and a jasper. They were enclosed in gold filigree settings.The stones were for the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, corresponding to the number of their names. Each name corresponding to one of the twelve tribes was like the engravings of a seal.

Therefore, this is what the sovereign master, the LORD, says:“ Look, I am laying a stone in Zion, an approved stone, set in place as a precious cornerstone for the foundation. The one who maintains his faith will not panic.

Now when the dragon realized that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.But the woman was given the two wings of a giant eagle so that she could fly out into the wilderness, to the place God prepared for her, where she is taken care of– away from the presence of the serpent– for a time, times, and half a time.Then the serpent spouted water like a river out of his mouth after the woman in an attempt to sweep her away by a flood,but the earth came to her rescue; the ground opened up and swallowed the river that the dragon had spewed from his mouth.So the dragon became enraged at the woman and went away to make war on the rest of her children, those who keep God’s commandments and hold to the testimony about Jesus.

because you have been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.

And I will grant my two witnesses authority to prophesy for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth.( These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.)If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths and completely consumes their enemies. If anyone wants to harm them, they must be killed this way.These two have the power to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the time they are prophesying. They have power to turn the waters to blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague whenever they want.When they have completed their testimony, the beast that comes up from the abyss will make war on them and conquer them and kill them.Their corpses will lie in the street of the great city that is symbolically called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was also crucified.For three and a half days those from every people, tribe, nation, and language will look at their corpses, because they will not permit them to be placed in a tomb.And those who live on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate, even sending gifts to each other, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.

They have heard that I groan, yet there is no one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that you have brought it about. Bring about the day of judgment that you promised so that they may end up like me!ת( Tav)

The next day, because we were violently battered by the storm, they began throwing the cargo overboard,and on the third day they threw the ship’s gear overboard with their own hands.When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and a violent storm continued to batter us, we finally abandoned all hope of being saved.

You were once abandoned and despised, with no one passing through, but I will make you a permanent source of pride and joy to coming generations.

I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage– I have conquered the world.”

His arms are like rods of gold set with chrysolite. His abdomen is like polished ivory inlaid with sapphires.

As I watched, I saw on the platform above the top of the cherubim something like a sapphire, resembling the shape of a throne, appearing above them.
