Just as there were many who were appalled at him— his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness—

Many people were shocked when they saw him. He was so scarred that he no longer looked like a person. His body was so twisted that he did not look like a human being anymore.

As many were astonished at you— his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the children of mankind—

But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.

He sprouted up like a twig before God, like a root out of parched soil; he had no stately form or majesty that might catch our attention, no special appearance that we should want to follow him.He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.But he lifted up our illnesses, he carried our pain; even though we thought he was being punished, attacked by God, and afflicted for something he had done.He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds, crushed because of our sins; he endured punishment that made us well; because of his wounds we have been healed.

I offered my back to those who attacked, my jaws to those who tore out my beard; I did not hide my face from insults and spitting.

I can count all my bones; my enemies are gloating over me in triumph.

But he did not answer even one accusation, so that the governor was quite amazed.

Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,

Then he went up with them into the boat, and the wind ceased. They were completely astonished,

They were even more astonished and said to one another,“ Then who can be saved?”

Now when they heard this they were stunned, and they left him and went away.The same day Sadducees( who say there is no resurrection) came to him and asked him,

and after braiding a crown of thorns, they put it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand, and kneeling down before him, they mocked him:“ Hail, king of the Jews!”They spat on him and took the staff and struck him repeatedly on the head.

The roof of my mouth is as dry as a piece of pottery; my tongue sticks to my gums. You set me in the dust of death.

But I am a worm, not a man; people insult me and despise me.All who see me taunt me; they mock me and shake their heads.

When Jesus finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed by his teaching,

The girl got up at once and began to walk around( she was twelve years old). They were completely astonished at this.

For my days go up in smoke, and my bones are charred like a fireplace.My heart is parched and withered like grass, for I am unable to eat food.Because of the anxiety that makes me groan, my bones protrude from my skin.

Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter.

People were completely astounded and said,“ He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

And all who heard Jesus were astonished at his understanding and his answers.

They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem. Jesus was going ahead of them, and they were amazed, but those who followed were afraid. He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them what was going to happen to him.

They blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly,“ Prophesy! Who hit you?”

They were all amazed and began to say to one another,“ What’s happening here? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

Then astonishment seized them all, and they glorified God. They were filled with awe, saying,“ We have seen incredible things today.”
