Why was no one there when I came? Why didn’t anyone answer when I called? Is it because I have no power to rescue? No, that is not the reason! For I can speak to the sea and make it dry up! I can turn rivers into deserts covered with dying fish.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”

Time after time I sent you prophets, who told you,“ Turn from your wicked ways, and start doing things right. Stop worshiping other gods so that you might live in peace here in the land I have given to you and your ancestors.” But you would not listen to me or obey me.

The fish in it will die, and the river will stink. The Egyptians will not be able to drink any water from the Nile.’”

He was amazed to see that no one intervened to help the oppressed. So he himself stepped in to save them with his strong arm, and his justice sustained him.

I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea.

I will level the mountains and hills and blight all their greenery. I will turn the rivers into dry land and will dry up all the pools.

He changes rivers into deserts, and springs of water into dry, thirsty land.

Are you not the same today, the one who dried up the sea, making a path of escape through the depths so that your people could cross over?

For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High, but they don’t truly honor me.

When he got there, he called out in anguish,“ Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?”

“ Run up and down every street in Jerusalem,” says the Lord.“ Look high and low; search throughout the city! If you can find even one just and honest person, I will not destroy the city.

Therefore, I make this decree: If any people, whatever their race or nation or language, speak a word against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they will be torn limb from limb, and their houses will be turned into heaps of rubble. There is no other god who can rescue like this!”

What god of any nation has ever been able to save its people from my power? So what makes you think that the Lord can rescue Jerusalem from me?”

When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves,“ Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.

Where is the one who led them through the bottom of the sea? They were like fine stallions racing through the desert, never stumbling.

Not one of your idols told you this. Not one gave any answer when I asked.

The waters of the Nile will fail to rise and flood the fields. The riverbed will be parched and dry.

The Red Sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way! The water of the Jordan River turned away.The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs!What’s wrong, Red Sea, that made you hurry out of their way? What happened, Jordan River, that you turned away?Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, hills, like lambs?Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.

He rescues and saves his people; he performs miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

But the people of Israel had walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, as the water stood up like a wall on both sides.

Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you! Don’t let him fool you like this! I say it again— no god of any nation or kingdom has ever yet been able to rescue his people from me or my ancestors. How much less will your God rescue you from my power!”

And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.

I listen to their conversations and don’t hear a word of truth. Is anyone sorry for doing wrong? Does anyone say,“ What a terrible thing I have done”? No! All are running down the path of sin as swiftly as a horse galloping into battle!

While you were doing these wicked things, says the Lord, I spoke to you about it repeatedly, but you would not listen. I called out to you, but you refused to answer.
